Meh, after watching 3 episodes I had no idea in fark what was supposed to be going on.

3 in also and not overly impressed.  Hope this long set up resolves into something more interesting.  So far, there's not anything particularly "Star Wars" about it to me.

live-action "Star Wars" spin-off

The other studios already know that trick. What would be really nice is if somebody came up with a new idea.

It looks dreary and pretentious.

so, Star Wars?

So far, Andor is awesome.

No Jedi, no Skywalkers, and no wasting good actors on "comic relief".

Of course, if you liked dreck like "The Last Jedi" or "Obi-Wan Kenobi", Andor is probably not for you (you should go back to watching "Ow! My Balls!").

Andor is the Star Wars that many people have been asking for for quite some time.

Didn't get past the trailer.  Boba Fett is the only one to grab me.

Looking forward to binging it after the month is over, more Star Wars without Skywalker family drama is appreciated.

Loving it so far. Ep 4 sealed it for me with the tone and settings. I think a gritty spy drama is exactly what Star Wars needs, and the protagonist falls solidly into the 'grey' category. Acting is awesome across the board (so far) and Stellan Skarsgård steals the show. Great new ship and tech introduced with his character. Can't wait for the next one!

SLOW AS FARK (I actually said "oh, there's the action. Finally," in episode 3.

BUT -- because it's no Jedi, no Death Stars (I know), it's a tad refreshing and worth getting the extra chances. You build a goddamn universe, let's explore the thing, dammit. Star Trek shouldn't be all about the Enterprise and its crew; Star Wars doesn't have to be the dozen or so Jedi and their adventures. Let's have our smugglers, bounty hunters, average Joe Rebels, IMPERIAL PROTAGONISTS (sorry, the part of me that grew up on TIE-Fighter and went to Warhammer 40K for that vibe decided to speak out).

But I have issues with the following:

-Flashbacks. Could've done Andor's primitive Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome kids tribe story in the first episode in one continuous stream and been done with it, instead of clumsily bouncing back and forth.

-THE MUSIC. IT SUCKS. I don't mind someone deviating from John Williams' iconic sound, but it sounded like a weak copy of Blade Runner 2049 or some sci-fi anime or video game I've heard, with screeching stringed section of the orchestra annoying the fark out of me.

/will give props to what I think is an Easter egg -- Andor's pistol looks like Kyle Katarn's (checks Google -- yep).

Yes.  Very gritty and "real".  The end of Ep. 3 with the violin sequence was incredible.

Other people have pointed out how detailed this one is and how the impact of the death of any character is "felt" by the audience - no more blowing up entire planets then immediately going to, "ohh...that sucks...we'll, what kind of nuttiness is BB-8 up to?!"

If you're having trouble following it... Well, c'mon, nobody believes that, it's just not that complicated.

Presumably you're shiatposting for some reason, maybe because of the lack of highly choreographed lightsaber dance-fights.

It's the best of the Star Wars series so far, in my opinion.

To be fair, most of us who like it seem to like it because it deviates from the formula.  It's more 'adult' and less 'spectacle'.

I can see a Star Wars fan legitimately saying it's not Star Wars.

If one of you could make it through a review without resorting to "if you don't get it you're just too stupid" then perhaps I'd consider watching it again. As such I was bored to tears and don't plan on revisiting.

Seriously aren't you the same people who complained about the prequel trilogy focusing on trade embargoes? Now you're enthralled by out system politics and Mon Motha's love life? Spare me.

Well, the first three episodes could have probably been condensed into two, but the fourth episode more than makes up for it.

And I agree the music could be better but I wasn't impressed with the Kenobi soundtrack either. But would you rather have average music and a good story or another Book of Boba Fett?

People like you live in a different world from people like me - not an insult, just an observation.  I do not notice incidental music unless it's awful to the point of being intrusive. Otherwise it's just background stuff that may leave an impression, but I don't consciously recall it.

The only reason I know Andor has a score is because I believe I would have noticed if there wasn't one.

There are a plethora of complaints about every single Star Wars production. From the lack of depth of the original film, then the Ewoks, the travesty that are the Special Editions followed by Lucas's storytelling deficiencies/excesses with the prequels etc..EVERYTHING Lucasfilm puts out has someone complaining (a lot of it with good cause). But I think this new series is aiming towards greatness. Top notch cast, well thought out story with some dramatic heft (not just pew pew pew). I think it elevates the rest of the SW by its existence.

And no storm troopers and only two tie fighters through three episodes.  Outside of logos there is nothing that identifies it AS Star Wars.

Which is kind of the antithesis of R1 which had paper thin characters that few cared about.

I fell asleep three times watching the third episode.  It's a quarter way through the first season and it's all preamble so far, and boring preamble at that.

I'm in.

I agree with the valid criticism that the first two episodes are indulgent in showing how much he has lost and will lose. But by not trying to jam a fight and action sequence into every episode you get better storytelling. It's not an action only show and I hope they use a similar approach with Ahsoka.

If you're hard of hearing you can turn closed captioning on. If you can't read I don't know what to tell you but "what planet it's on" and "peoples names" are all mentioned, so you're either not paying attention, haven't actually watched it, or are actually an idiot.

I know I have ADHD, and while I didn't watch all three episodes straight through when released, or any one of them without pausing occasionally, I still enjoyed them. It's not what we're used to seeing from a Star Wars show/movie, which I get and can understand that complaint, but I like that it's trying to break the mold of what a "Star Wars" show can be and do.

Oh I do actually have ADHD, I was just making fun of the simple minded folk who apparently can't tolerate world or character building and have to have action all the time, like farkin' magpies and shiny objects.

Space.com is a shill site, but even they can't  polish this turd. I watched the first four episodes and I have not been able to GAF about any of the characters or the situation, whateverthefark it's supposed to be. Some sort of "bank heist" thing going  to happen, I guess? Didn't they already play that card with the Solo movie?

Yeah, I seriously don't get the Rogue One love.

However, I'm actually enjoying Andor quite a bit despite it starting a bit slow.

I mostly agree with that, but it doesn't bother me.  I understand viewers wanting more stories specifically outside of the Skywalkers, Tattooine, etc.  But I also don't get when they say they also want to get away from things like the Force and Jedi/Sith.  You could probably tone down the latter, but those are literally the preeminent defining characteristics of Star Wars.

Because there are a ton of potential stories to be set in the universe that don't deal with The Force at all? I'm hoping they continue to explore the non-force-sensitive plots, while also getting into the non-Jedi/Sith Force users. Bring in the witches of Dathomir, the Bendu, or the Aing-Tii monks.

Yep.  I get not liking it - it does deviate from the Star Wars formula - but "it's too complicated to follow" is just a whiny baby complaint with no thought behind it.

The story's simple, it's the characters that compel.  If you're complaining you can't follow it, you're lying or too stupid to watch television.
