I don't know if he should replace Jones but you know what Hoyer can do so if Jones can't play start Zappe and find out what he can do. Probably not making the playoffs anyway and definitely not winning the Super Bowl.

This.  Jones is closer to Hoyer than Brady.  See what Zappe can do.

Please a late round draft pick?  Like he's going to be capable of leading an NFL team long term.  He even looks lanky.

NAME 1 time that has worked in the history of the NFL. I DARE YOU!

Little-known, late-drafted QB comes off the bench and plays well? Nah, you gotta go back to your highly drafted starter (who has been to the Pro Bowl!) when he's healthy.

Hoyer is there to be a coach and veteran presence for the youngsters as much as he is to actually play.  He knows the systems, he knows how the coaches think, and he is a very respected "old guard" presence in the locker room.

If the only other option is Brian Hoyer's reanimated corpse it's a no brainer.  I didn't even realize he was still in the league.  He was washed up when the Texan's let him go after that million interception playoff game.

I mean Jones hasn't done great either.  Why not give the new kid a shot.  It's looking like a lost season for NE this year anyway so why not evaluate everyone.

He's also bald, and everyone knows that in order to be a hip new quarterback, you gotta have a full head of hair.

Bledsoe was smart enough to see the writing on the wall to keep quiet, pick up his Super Bowl ring, write up a convincing thank you to the Pats and fans in the newspaper, then take his cannon arm hooked onto Robocop's slow walking chassis to another team after the 2001 run.

/"Pocket collapses -- Bledsoe throws the football out of bounds before he can get sacked," memories
//I still like Bledsoe more than Brady, even though the latter is undeniably a (the?) god-tier QB

Which was the Bills and he almost dragged us to the playoffs.

The Packers, the Patriots, the Cowboys, and the Seahawks should play musical chairs with their starting QBs and then the winner signs Kaepernick anyway.

I know one thing Zappe can't do is make a first down.

A quarterback controversy used to be when you had 2 starting  QBs on the same team. Montana/Young or Farve/ Rodgers, or Bledsoe/Brady.  Now it's anyone who comes of the bench and doesn't implode. Hats of to the kid for coming of the bench  as a 3rd string and not crapping on the field in GB Vs Arod. But Unless he starts another 4 or 5 and wins them in a pretty spectacular fasion this isn't a controversy.

Mac Jones is Drew Bledsoe 2.0.

Good guy, good leader, good arm, throws interceptions at the worst possible time.

If Jones keeps up what he did last week and too often last season, Zappe will be the 2023/2024 starter and Jones will be shipped to the highest bidder

/all assuming Zappe takes care of the ball and makes progress

I seriously thought this would be about Cooper Rush getting the permanent starting job in Dallas over Dak.
