I'm currently writing a movie, with his daughter's cooperation, about our local horror host in the 70s and 80s, Uncle Ted. He and his family used to own a summer cabin across road from ours and I spent many summer nights as a boy sitting around the fire listening to him tell stories. And yes he would put on the fez.

Fun fact: Bill O'Reilly's first job in TV was as Uncle Ted's assistant. He was a giant piece of crap and got fired. That part will also be in the movie.

Or like Tiger Woods telling you you're the prettiest waitress he's ever seen at Denny's.

sniderman: BERWYN?!?!

First thing I thought of. Grew up in Chicago area and, before Svengoolie came along I would watch the horror movies on Creature Features.

I'm thankful we still have late night horror hosts doing their thing. In North Ohio, we have Mummy and the Monkey and The Big Bad B Movie Show.

Thanks for that, the audio brought back memories! Creature Features and Screaming Yellow Theater were mainstays of my youth.

I have vague memories of something Rich Koz did during the start of Desert Shield/Desert Storm back in 1990-ish.  He was doing daytime kids-hosting of Three Stooges/Little Rascals shorts at the time (I believe they called it the Koz Zone), but on the day the actual combat started up and was filling all the network feeds, Mr. Koz addressed the kids directly, telling them not to be afraid of the bad stuff that was happening on other channels.  He was trying to calm the children's audience, telling them that they were safe and their parents were there for them if they had any questions about what was happening.  As far as I know he only did it once, and I can't find any mention of it anywhere in cyberspace, but I know it happened, I remember it so vividly.  The man is a god to me.

He appears to be looking for a successor.

All the Sinclair owned stations dropped MeTV so I'm currently without Sven.
I'm hoping one the other stations picks it up soon.
