Probably what happened was that John Wayne was in the bathroom after drinking too many shots.

They just apologized. I guess we know why they were motivated.

The academy didn't want to see a history book with a note saying she never received an apology.

Not sure how many have seen a doc called Reel Injun. Nice history lesson on how aboriginal(?) Americans have been depicted in media to that point. Believe it streams on Amazon. Maybe on the PBS app.

There is a great scene from a John Ford era western with an actual tribal member speaking in their language. Because no one bothered to translate what he said, they didn't know he was spewing out vile insults that would have never been allowed under the Hayes code if producers cared enough to pay attention.

That native American should be on Mount Rushmore!
