Need a poll on the percentage of republicans that suffer from a mental health disorder shown by being detached from reality. Simple one question poll, do you believe the President Biden won the 2020 election? If answered no, the person is detached from reality and suffering from mental incompetence and by law barred from possession of firearms and voting.

The question nobody asks these people -- not that they'd answer it with even a modicum of honesty -- is "What did Donald Trump do for you and people like you during the four years he was president?"

I mean, I'm sure you'd get bullshiat answers like "He made it legal to say 'Merry Christmas' again" but at the end of the day the only thing he cares about when it comes to places like Monongahela is "how many 'Ultra MAGA' automatic donations did I get?"

vudukungfu: Idiots is a nice way of saying asshole

I don't know. I'm pretty picky when it comes to the specific meaning of words, and to me "idiot" and "asshole" mean two very different things. An idiot is someone who acts without thinking, a sort of moron Voltron who combines a lack of common sense, a lack of intelligence, and a lack of self-awareness to create an utterly clueless imbecile whose stumbles through life more often than not cause real harm to other people. An asshole is cut from something close to the same cloth, but those stumbles aren't stumbles. Rather, they're deliberate attempts to cause harm, or at least chaos. And those "lacks" the idiot has -- common sense, intelligence, self-awareness -- are more often than not feigned on the part of the asshole as a way of pretending into ignorance when they're called out on their bullshiat. A coward's retreat, of course, but all par for the course for an asshole.

"Idiot" falls for right-wing media.
"Asshole" helps make or spread right-wing media.

"Idiot" votes Republican.
"Asshole" readily tells people they're A Republican.

One can even be both, but there's a difference.

It never made sense to me that the poster child of the costal elite...

The guy who's face appears next to the word liar in the dictionary....

Somehow became Johnny America.

His entire brand is making "deals" and owning things that stupid people think that rich people own.

"Trump just came along and filled the empty space," said Matti Gruzs, who stitches old blue jeans into tote bags, place mats and other creations she sells at the weekly Farmer's Market downtown. "He's still the king, and the kingmaker."

How is this not parody?

"We were wondering, at one point, you know, we were going to see any," he said. "Right now, I can't get my hands on enough."

Yard signs really are a terrible indicator since Trump cultists put them on every square foot of their property line.

Abbot and Patrick's ads in Texas are focusing on crime (SKYROCKETING MURDER RATE!!!) and the wailing about "open borders". Never mind this "skyrocketing" crime has occurred under Abbott's and Patrick's watch.

Abbott now has his largest lead in the polls, thanks to the "independent", "educated" suburban professional.

Their apathy and ignorance is almost as dangerous as the Trump cultist.

Because...silly...Obama wore a tan suit that one time and he personally made people feel bad about their racist ancestors.

That first picture in the article definitely feels like a metaphor for the actual effects of Trump's presidency on that region in stark contrast to how much they feel he helped them.

Because they believe they will be safe from the ramifications.

Crime has always been the right wings Boogeyman. The amount of racism in their ads is truly extraordinary. We're seeing these all over for the governor's race in New York. They can't run on their economic plans or their health care plans or their environmental plans or anything else that they just run on fear.

To be fair every state has its own area where the chucklefarks congregate. I'd put money you could even look around a tiny place like Hawaii and eventually discover an area where people keep their jet skis sitting around on the lawn half deconstructed and wave the Loser's Flag like the state has a confederacy background.

And it keeps working. I lived in Ohio under Regan, in California when it was deep red (early-mid nineties) and have been in Dallas for twenty years. The message is always the same, and works more often than not.

I'm beyond tired of hearing Texas will turn purple/blue "any day now". Texas has had exactly two governors in my twenty years here (Perry/Abbott) and the state leg is just a convention of crazy. Voters here are by and large morons, and the non-voters are even dumber.

A related question- why do the press still call TFG a "populist?" Sure, he said a few populist-flavored things when he was running in 2020, but once he got elected it was all tax cuts, packing the courts and stigginit, and zero populism

I prefer journalists that don't use characterizations. All they have to do is tell me what's going on and I'll be able to figure it out for myself. That's their job. Not to tell me what to think. That's what right wing media does.

He told them just what they wanted to hear. Their lots in life were not their fault. The reason they cannot get ahead, cannot gain the vast riches they so rightly deserve is all the fault of every minority or 'less-than' that should worship the very ground they walk on. They heard loud and clear that they everything they wanted to hear. And in four years guess what? Not a single promise was kept. They are still poor. They are still uneducated. They still have not learned any personal responsibility. But once their god/king is reinstalled they will get everything that he promised. What they deserve.

Did the writer even try a new angle to this story? All of this is not exactly new. Other than:

"Mastriano is a "folk hero around here," said Gruzs, who recalled his regular updates broadcast during the pandemic."

Which was not elaborated on in the article. Mussolini was a folk hero too, maybe there could be a few comparisons drawn? Or follow up questions as to why people did not like certain candidates. Or why someone thought TFG might not run again. Ya knows....actual reporting.

I live in a very pro-Trump part of Pennsytennarkatucky, banners, flags, swag, life sized diorama of TFG 'n Melanie in a local used car dealership, traitors who went to DC live here....yet there are signs up for Fetterman and Shapiro, a few rays of hope.
