Quick, what's the AL record for hits? Strikeouts? Walks?  Only in NY.

61 was a decent movie. Filmed at Tiger Stadium.

nah, HR is a sexy stat. this would be a big deal no matter the team, and even moreso because of all the controversy over the players ahead of Maris. many times, the discussion of "AL record" really means "actual MLB record."

No, only the AL homer record is in New York.

Judge is still struggling (though in fairness he's getting very little to hit).

Meanwhile, Pujols just hit #702

And tied Babe Ruth for 2nd all time in RBIs.  This second half has been unreal for Cardinals fans.

The is no "AL HR record" and hasn't been for over 20 years.   I hate Yanks fans.   These yahoos tortured Maris in '61.

Oh, you want to be wrong in THIS thread, too? Yo do you.

Judge has been in a major slump since 60 (though he has racked up an impressive on-base streak).

0-for-3 with a walk today and likely not going to get another AB, meaning if he DOEs hiat 62, it won't be in the Bronx.

Triple Crown is also steadily slipping away as he can't keep his AVG up with Arraez' (though honestly I feel AVG should be replaced with OBP).

There was a period there where it looked like there might be TWO triple crown winners this year (Judge and Goldschmidt), but that ship has sailed.  Too bad.

There is an AL HR record. Regardless of it is officially published by MLB there is a record.

1) When people say "AL record" here they mean "not Bonds, McGuire, or Sosa record"

2) AL or NL record is quite often raised when people hit those thresholds. However no records get the attention this one does.

3) Off the top of my head:

The AL (and MLB) record for hits is Ichiro. I don't know who the NL record holder is.
The AL record for Ks is Ryan (the modern NL record is Koufax, but I believe there are 19th records above him).
The AL record for walks is Ruth with Bonds having the MLB record.

Forgot that Sosa had 3 seasons of 60+ in four years. And 50 in the other year. Sure, he cheated, but damn, that's consistent.
