Today is probably their most important game of the regular season and determines the division. Whomever wins today gets the tiebreaker against the other.

Watching the Braves win and the TB Bucs lose simultaneously would be a wonderful Sunday evening.

Please, enlighten me. I'm serious. How can you do better than, oh, I don't know, lead the majors in wins with a really good e.r.a.?  As I said, serious question that hopefully will lead to a good discussion.

Wright's ERA is 3.19. That's very good, but that's not even great. Alcantara's is 2.28, which is almost a full run better.

Wright's thrown 180.1 innings. Alcantara, 228.2. That's an enormous, enormous innings gap.

The only thing Wright has going for him is his record, and voters don't care about wins anymore. Fried's gonna finish higher than Wright in Cy Young voting.

I get that. I still think being the only 20 game winner is a big deal. It's a fun discussion to have. Do we both agree that Harris should be RoY?

I agree about Alcantara but How about Strider for ROY?
/either way, no way a Brave doesn't with ROY

Strider is a good contender, but he's injured right now (oblique).  What he's done has been just as fun to watch as Harris. I'm looking forward to watching them both for years to come.

Swanson is losing his mind this series. Another HR already for a sweet first inning run.

Looks like the Mets are going to get swept tonight.
They are not going to get by the Dodgers, anyway.
At least they have a rich owner who will do what it takes to get them to the top next year.

Braves win

2022-10-02 10:33:25 PM
Amazing. All the Mets had to do was "not get swept".

Now the next Braves win or Mets loss clinches it for the Braves.

2022-10-02 10:51:19 PM
and that concludes the weekend. Here's how things look now:

AL

1. Astros
2. Yankees
3. Guardians
4. Jays or Mariners (Jays magic number 2 vs Mariners)
5. Mariners, Jays or Rays
6. Rays or Mariners

NL

1. Dodgers
2. Braves or Mets (Braves magic number 1 vs Mets)
3. Cardinals
4. Mets or Braves
5. Padres or Phillies
6. Phillies, Padres or Brewers

2022-10-02 11:04:44 PM
The Mets just Metted in typical Met fashion, and I'm loving it.

Mets fans have been calling the local sports station for a couple of months saying that the reason the Braves caught the Mets was because they "haven't played anybody". Wonder what they'll say tomorrow.
