If they announced they really do put real Girl Scouts in the shortening, I'd definitely cut down on my Thin Mints consumption.

/I'd still eat just as many Tagalongs

20% more is pretty much the increase I saw at the grocery store over the past year and a half, so it makes sense.

Compared to supporting Heinz & Kingswood Capital Management LP? Yes and yes, it's fundraising.

when did they go back to the name Somoas? best cookie tied with Thin Mints; the idea that Samoans could've been insulted by the name was bizarre.

No price too high for the Thin Mint.

Given that the cookies had to have been manufactured (and from raw materials ordered) long before this most recent spike in inflation happened, this would appear to simply be price gouging.

Roll back all those tax cuts to the uber wealthy, and inflation goes away, while employees get paid.

While I'm not an economist, and certainly don't have the ear of government... I've never believed it was a good idea to target 0% inflation.

A few percentage points of inflation is a good thing for the economy, it means your money reduces in purchasing power the longer you hold onto it so you'd better do something with it.  Inflation where you can't afford bread tomorrow with your pay from today is obviously bad, but encouraging people not to sit on savings 'cash under the mattress' style is good.

Of course, this assumes you have an economy in which most people can actually save up money and aren't living paycheque to paycheque.

At my kids' peak (5 kids), we'd call that a long weekend supply. My son put ketchup on corn. My daughter dipped potato chips. My oldest still likes it on bacon.

I use ketchup to make BBQ sauce that's not horribly sweet, 16 fluid oz at a time. A 64oz bottle would be good for one or two cookouts.

*checks bottle* It's sold by weight rather than volume. The Costco pack I just bought is... Hot damn, over 8 pounds in 3 bottles. To be fair, it usually lasts us a year or so past its expiration date.

Me: my daughter is an amazing young woman. She's in college to become a biomedical engineer. She's in the band. She donates her time to a free clinic on the weekends.

Narrator: she puts ketchup on bacon.

Yesterday a Boy Scout and his mom were selling those snacks outside the grocery store.

I figured I would help him out. One bag of cheddar popcorn and one bag of carmel corn.

$36.

Those Girl Scouts need to up their game price gouging.
