I'm surprised this is the first time Rosh Hashanah has been celebrated in the White House. This Biden fellow's welcoming inclusiveness is nice to see. More of this, please.

Millions of Americans celebrate Rosh Hashanah and Hanukkah. Millions celebrate Diwali and millions celebrate Eid-al-Fitr and Easter. The multiple and irreducibly plural religious and cultural traditions of Americans should be part of public life and that includes the White House. I think its farking fantastic, and I have only skepticism for those arguing that all of a sudden religious ceremonies shouldn't be in public life now that BIPOC (and often their non-Christian traditions) have started making their unapologetic presence known in American life. In fact, this is going to lead-off my Airing of Grievances this year when I get my White House Festivus pole up.

/I find tinsel distracting

I admit I'm surprised too. I sorta thought this started in the 80's. I thought that because Carter was the first to have the White House Menorah. Dunno if that kept up during TFG's years though.

Seriously, nobody walks around with their hands in suit jacket pockets.
Jacket pockets are for condoms, candy, and rohypnol. (Probably not in that order)

Exactly, yes no religion should be involved in the political office. The only way to move forward as a society is to be free of this. Recently over in Helsinki and was told that to be buried properly you had to pay into the Lutheran church all your life. The government takes it out of your paycheck just so you can have a church funeral.

National Prayer Breakfast should be canceled. Its run by that cult The Fellowship Foundation aka The Family. Also known as the group that convinced Uganda to pass a law that homosexuality deserves a death sentence.

IIRC, Obama crashed a Yom Kippur breakfast held by White House staff in the White House, making that the first official breakfast. Obama also put out thoughtful statements on the high holiday. Trump just complained about American Jews being disloyal to him.

But the erasure of the integral role of Haym Salomon in the American Revolution.

Twice sentenced to death as a spy he escaped to free territory and used his financial skills to relentlessly fuel
the funding efforts for the Continental Army. Personally called on by Washington to fund the attack of Yorktown.

He died a pauper.

How very Christian of them. "Useful."
