"I'm convinced that geographically we're incapable of being hit with a storm. It just never seems to happen,"

Except for those that did.

But we know Jacksonville was protected FROM supernatural forces, at least.

"I'm a skeptic. I've lived here 34 years, and I've yet to see a hurricane hit us. I think we're in the perfect spot," Bonita Bay resident Chris Williams told the Post.

Well, I'm a plesiosaur, but I don't just go around announcing it.

Are supernatural forces protecting Tampa Bay from hurricanes? Probably not.

Man, it's not every day that a concept is so dumb that they just answer the question in the headline instead of letting Betterige's Law of Headlines apply.

Able to?

The gov't requested the postponement because of, well, hurricane and then TFG's lawyers tried to fight the postponement thinking that this was their "get out of deposition free" card.

People magazine said little to very little damage
But reading  in other places apparently  he was trying to raise funds and filed a $17 million insurance claim anyway.

Of course not you twatwaffle.

But they do help absorb some of the force, particularly the storm surge. North Carolina's problem is they keep building on the islands instead of leaving them to get washed over.

But I'm sure you know better Mr. Meteorologist.

Kids, kids, you're both right. Barrier islands and marshes help reduce the effect of large storms, and building on them reduces the effectiveness, as well as preventing them from migrating.

Frankly, I think existing structures on barrier islands should only be insured on the condition that they won't be rebuilt, and new construction should be banned. As it stands, everyone ends up paying an inordinate amount to rehab what are temporary structures and infrastructure every few years, and the whole thing is an environmental nightmare on top of it.

/Live inland in Wilmington, NC, and our yard flooded up to our house during Ian.
//Much prefer wind farms out there than the current HOA-on-steroids those communities have become.
