To run for elected office in the US, military experience used to be a de facto requirement.

And I'd rather have a corporal who might understand the world than a lot of generals.

/Ruben Gallago was a corporal (I think) and I very much look forward to him running against Sinema or for President

Mr. Gallego was an USMC Reservist and won't run from a fight. He would be a good choice.

Mind you, the complaint that they have in the north of Burkina Faso regarding terrorist Daesh affiliates terrorizing locals and the government not responding adequately is true, from all reports I've read or heard from people living there. Some villages have doubled in size due to refugees fleeing violence, and that is before considering the drought and disease that they have to deal with in sub-Saharan Africa.

Either it rains and they have pools of stagnant water breeding mosquitoes spreading disease, or it doesn't rain adequately and people starve. The people of the region tend to be semi-nomadic, and villages and towns already have inadequate infrastructure, potable water and farms mostly, for their residents. Then the terrorists come, rape murder and pillage, and the refugees flee and have to burden other poor desperate people.

And the central government, such as it is, rarely does anything until the capital or big cities are threatened, at which point their own interests come into play, and the resentment that this coup draws upon is a real thing among the non-urban dwellers, ie most of Burkina Faso.

The above issues describe much of west and sub-Saharan Africa, sadly.

Reservist is certainly a way of putting it. He deployed to Iraq with the marine company that suffered among the highest casualty rates of any American unit during the entire war. Lucky Lima...

When seditionists riot, it is during an insurrection. I was referring to the people involved, I did not refer to what happened on January 6th as a whole, but rather the actors involved. You are biatching about what to call the event event as a whole, a totally moot point, because I was referencing to the people involved. While I do not watch CNN, even if I did CNN would not be the problem. The problem is your lack of reading comprehension skills, and your penchant to assume things based on this lack of reading comprehension.

As far as "making it about us", it is a legit comparison. Both were insurrections, thankfully the one on U.S. soil failed.
