Gonna find a liability insurance rate that kills everyone but professional cameras. A friend of mine thought she needed to learn small craft ATC communication to fly drones under the cake of DFW ATC, but I think that Chase executive over estimated the market.

/CTO, if you're under a thousand feet in most places you can stay silent

"The meal was still hot inside the drone's delivery box when the crew got there," said Donald.

Priorities, people. Priorities. Sure, a couple of thousand folks were without power, but goddamn it, that quiche was still piping hot and ready. I mean, how HARD is it to deliver a quiche?

Power lines are alternating current. Seems to me that an AC sensor should be included on drones so they can avoid power lines

Uh, what? You have to be very, very close to detect magnetic fields from any wiring, likely to be drowned out by any stray fields from the motors of the drone itself. Likely the drone is using just optical.

Are they going to make the corp pay for the repair and damages to the individuals without power?

Hahaha no because that would be a nice world where governments forced corporations be responsible for their negative externalities.

Any AM radio receiver can hear high voltage lines.

What's AM radio you ask?

FormlessOne: "The meal was still hot inside the drone's delivery box when the crew got there," said Donald.

It had the fire from the drone to keep it warm.

We've always had self-driving cars.

Just take your hands off the wheel, and the car will safely guide itself right to the scene of the accident.

So a small drone landing on power lines can cut off power to thousands of people. Good to know. *thoughtful expression*

Exactly. "Very close" is the point at which the drone needs to be aware of the power lines and take action.

If they were geniuses they would have built this into re-charging. The only time down is maintenance.
