The best part of a Tammy Wynette cover band is that you can have as many Tammys as you want!

I love this.  I wish there was a way to send them all congratulatory cards or even small gifts from America.

Ah, yes. Israel, which touts its progressive stance on the queer community while disallowing us from getting married in the country.

Back in the mid-90s, some college friends from back east drove out to visit me out west and make a road trip of it.   We had no destination in mind, no other goal than to explore.  We let coin flips determine where we went (heads we go to Arizona, tails we go to Canada).  Heads won and we set a meandering course through Utah.

In the middle of the night we finally pulled into Moab.  There was, apparently, exactly one unrented hotel room in town and we wanted it.  For some reason, however, the clerk was very reluctant to sell it to us.  After some prodding we finally got him to confess that it was the bridal suite.  We didn't care.  All we wanted was a bed to crash in.  So he begrudgingly let us have it.

When we got to the room, we were surprised.  Why were there so many beds?  And why were there accordion partitions so that you could close each of them off individually?  And why did the bathroom have a jacuzzi big enough to seat 8?  We were, frankly, too exhausted to care and elated that we each got our own bed.  We fell asleep immediately.

The next day, as we drove out of town, we started trying to make sense of the strange room.  It wasn't until we realized that we were in the heart of fundamentalist LDS land that we had our lightbulb moment.  Later programs like Sister Wives really raised the profile of polygamy but, back then, it was something of a revelation.

So, when I think 'Utah wedding' my mind immediately asks, "For how many?"

In related news, I saw an article on Fox promoting an LGBTQ student group at BYU and I decided to help them out because I read the comments. I've never even set foot on BYU's campus and I have no affiliation with Raynbow Collective other than having bought all this cool stuff from them.  I like "Be Kind" but I think "Space On My Pew" is even better, because what kind of church doesn't have space on their pews for everyone?

Can you get a tele-divorce too, or are you stuck in a marriage that turns out not to be all rainbows when your wife won't stop leaving the toilet seat up?
