I seem to recall several movies involving trying to trap a leprechaun, and it doesn't end well. Sometimes you just have to let it be - even if's in love with the shape of you....

It makes money, that doesn't make it art.

Hard to write new stuff in the typical pop format without getting a match on one of the eleventy billion previous pop tunes.

Just say it was "subconscious plagiarism"

I've heard "Thinking Out Loud". It doesn't substantially sound like "Let's Get It On."  I'm sure there's some commonality, some common chords, but nothing huge.

I like quite a few of his songs. Didn't realize there were people out there who didn't.

You're surprised that not everyone likes a particular artist?

The latest case, which was originally lodged in 2018, is not being pursued by Gaye's family, but rather by Structured Asset Sales LLC, which owns part of the estate of Ed Townsend, who co-wrote "Let's Get It On."

Patent trolling is the old hotness, now it is music rights trolling.

Sorry, but this is the wrong take. And I fully agree that the song is a rip-off (or tribute) of Gaye-- a complete sound-alike.

The below is an elegant and cogent argument by someone who knows far more about music theory and the music business than either of us.

I don't know his work specifically, though i'd imagine if you played a hit for me, i would recognize it.
He seems like a nice bloke though..... so i have a favorable opinion of him, because fame has a way of making people turn into an ass.
