Eh. I'm all tatted-up and I think this is kind of silly. I guess if it protects people from other people being assholes then that's cool.

Maybe my beef is that its sponsor implies the presumption that employment is otherwise merit-based, which is just... where to even start with that? If that's really your worry you could start by slashing NYPD budgets by more than half and using that to bump the pay of the Department of Sanitation.

If a short sleeved button down shirt can't cover the ink then you don't get hired in a client-facing position. I won't specifically say that is the reason why I chose not to hire them, but I deal with a lot of old money clients and their delicate sensibilities pay my bills.

Which means in the near future I won't be able to hire anyone for those positions because it seems that every single millennial but me has tattoos.

Also, is Gen-Z as enamored with ink?

If it is passed, tattoos would join race, gender, age and sexual orientation as protective categories.

Well that's really farking stupid.

I am definitely going to have to put my foot down on the renting a home. Everyone needs a place to live, we can't all live on the streets of big cities, as fun as that may seem.

When I see people with tattoo's on their face and neck, I wonder if it costs more taxpayer dollars to support them than they put in.  I'm old and lame though, but I was told by my daughter that Post Malone is cool or something. He may work for the USPS, so you never know.

But stupidity can still be discriminated against so facial tattoos will still have trouble finding employment.

Landlord will run credit checks, background checks, and their eyes to discriminate.  And at the same time people cry about tent cities in thier nearby woods in their backyard.  fark those people.  Don't like tent cities? Support housing.  And don't be a NIMBY fark head.

Except that there isn't, especially in the US. It's 'face tattoo, NOPE' and that's the end of it.

A face tattoo no matter what the reason shouldn't prevent you from getting housing, in the US it does.
A face tattoo shouldn't prevent you from getting a job. Your inability to do it should, and only that should.

2022-09-30 12:39:10 PM
This is stupid.

Is it discrimination if someone doesn't want to hire a guy that has "FARK YOU" on his forehead?  Or is it common sense? Does the answer differ if the job is an IT guy working from home vs a customer service rep in a store?

Where does this end up?  Do you have to have a certain number of tatted employees to prove you're not discriminating?

What is the next protected class?  Will it be people with bad taste in clothing?   Or maybe bald people?

You clearly don't know how expensive tattoos are . It's a minimum of 50 to no limit an hour depending on the artist.
Most people with ink are in the business.  Or some other business that is atypical.
Everything you think is mostly an assumption.  And only slightly, vaguely correct 5 percent of the time.

Tattoos are no different than people who wear 5K Rolex watches.
My in costed me 3K . That's a nice gold chain.  And should be treated as such.

Would you also be okay with telling a man their too feminine?
Because  Sophora hires transwomen. I can't believe a mall store is more progressive than you. That's interesting.  So mall customers are more human than you? Most mall customers are scumbags

This has to be one of the dumbest farking "laws" ever proposed. GFG, it isn't discrimination when you opt not to hire someone because he will offend half your customers simply by looking at them with some asinine doodle--that he personally chose and approves of--on his face or neck or what have you. He wasn't born this way, he chose to put the ink on!!

I got a few tattoos in Seattle and in L.A. in the 90s and early 00s but always made sure that I'd be able to keep them covered at work because I was so concerned about closed-minded people in the corporate world denying me opportunities despite my skills. (Insert the lame old USA Today-style infographic with the defined tattoo zones). Before going in for a tattoo on my shoulder and upper arm, I even put on one of my Calvin Klein tshirts (which I used to wear a lot and had the shortest of short-sleeves) and marked my arm with a pen so I could tell the tattoo artist not to go below that point. I kept a file of tat ideas that I'd want to get one day if I ever made it out alive.

I managed to navigate a successful corporate job for years until I retired early last year.

Since then I've had three new tattoos done with a fourth one scheduled for next week.

It's wonderful to be able to do what I want to decorate my body without giving a fark what any crotchety old or young person thinks (except my husband to whom I've given veto power).

It's also nice because when you're 50 nobody asks you if you're concerned what your tattoo is going to look like when you get old. :)

For sure.  I wanted to cite something that made no sense to discriminate against. It is totally irrelevant to job performance. Unless you're a model for Pantene.  Then its career-ending.

To be fair humans love to discriminate.  Seriously.  We love to sort.
This fool doesn't understand we need limits to that gut reaction ape brain behavior.  Humans are not nuts and berries for sorting.

I used to agree.  I hate tattoos and think people with tattoos on their faces are idiots.

But over the last few years, every time I kill and eat someone another little Blue teardrop tattoo appears on my face the next day.  I have so many now I look like I'm an extra in an Avatar movie.

But did anyone ever ask me for permission? NO.  And now I have to work the build line instead of the payment window at BK.  F@king elves are ruining my life.

I honestly don't care for any tattoos whatsoever.   I think they're dumb and tacky for the most part.

But this is a good example of where subsequent generations should be telling the Boomers to f*ck off.

We don't need this kind of conservatism in our lives when we HAVE to work jobs.  And yeah, Capitalism is next.
