I loved cheers the first time around and it is a great show but I will admit that I don't go out of my way to rewatch it.

I think I read it was dead last in the ratings when it started. It'd probably be quickly canceled nowadays.

If all I had to watch was MASH and CHEERS reruns,

I'd be just fine.

Piffle. It was Cheers and Cheers alone that engraved upon my memory where Albania is.

Always loved Cheers...but the Kirstie Alley era is my favorite.

That's how I feel about it. And for me, it was never the same once Diane left. I kinda lost interest in it back in the day.

The early seasons are still pretty funny, though. I mean, like all old sitcoms, the humor feels cornier-and-cornier as the years go by. But it's held up better than most.

I never thought the Cheers aesthetic would be something that existed in my area out in the sticks, until I decided to hit up a hole-in-the-wall a couple miles from my parents' house while I still lived there around the time I turned legal.

I'd take a small table, order a beer or three, and sit there alone to write or whatnot.  Next thing I knew, people at the bar were buying me beers and inviting me to shoot a round of pool on the bar boxes.  All of those people are probably long-dead now, but I'll never forget how inviting they were.

They had their trouble people though.  I went there in the middle of a Labor Day pool tournament, and I sat down long enough to have two sips, before someone busted a cue on the table and a few patrons escorted him out the door.  I give them credit for their speed and lack of violence.  Then again, that was kinda the norm, from parties to bars.  If cops didn't have to be involved, so much the better.

I met John Ratzenberger at Summercon back in 2019, and I had him autograph a Cliff Clavin 8x10 for my favorite bar...asked it he could come up with something funny.

"To Special Brews:  You call this beer? - John Ratzenberger"

George Wendt was supposed to be there as well, but he has to cancel due to his commitment for a stage play.

Many years ago, I went to a meeting in D.C. at the DOT HQ, which was then about two blocks south of the Air & Space Museum. We go to lunch in the cafeteria in the basement. We see Secretary of Transportation Norman Mineta walk in.
Us: "Should we shout 'NORM!' ?"
Our meeting host: "Good Lord, no."

Mr. Ratzenberger spends part of his time in Montana. In the Beartooths. He knew my Grandma in Red Lodge before she passed, she owned the Wildflower Gift Shop.

He was very funny, never political, and always asked if "The bears are biting today?"

/Damn funny. DAMN FUNNY.
//He laughed at my joke - "I like dark ladies with long legs and deadly intent."
"Oh, Italians?"
"Nope. Black widow spiders.... same thing, really, though..."

Just looked it up.  Donald Trump's the only candidate for me".  Ratzenberger's a piece of shiat then.   Probably the only reason I haven't heard of it before is because his main claim to fame these days is his Pixar castings and that's not flashy enough for political promotion.

Fark you, Ratzenberger.

The distance between the first season of Cheers and today is the same as gap between  the Doolittle Raid over Tokyo in WWII and the first episode of Cheers. We're old, biatches.
