Long as it doesn't affect me who cares.

That Forsyth County Sheriff star graphic at the end was kinda cool, tho. The cop shouting "Get outta the car!" also has the perfect Cop Voice. He must practice in front of the mirror for a few minutes each day.

Aren't the police not supposed to go that fast ever because they make a dangerous situation even more dangerous?

I thought making situations more dangerous was SOP for cops

All depends on what their supervisor says and department policy.

In this case, the jerkoff in the GT-R was spotted going 178 the previous day (or so it says in the article) and probably is known to drive like a maniac all the time, because that's what you can expect from morons like that. He would be doing it regardless, so it's time they stop him.

If there's one thing I learned from The Dukes of Hazzard it's you gotta run straight for the county line

Ah the GTR...the favorite supercar of tech-bros who spent too much time playing Gran Turismo 3, to even attempt talking to females.

Difficulty-there is a State Patrol Post just over the County Line (and about 1/2 mile away from where Asshat gave up).

But the hurricane was chasing 'em!

The driver told deputies that he was already driving 140 mph, and there was no reason to stop after going that fast.

Wut? That's his defence? Is he Trump lawyer?

I see you have never driven on 400 before.

//400 driver here and I do not understand how people fail so hard to get up to speed when merging onto and off that highway.

At that speed you shouldn't be in the far left lane anyway on 400.

Its not called the Hospitality Highway for nothing.

"The cars reached speeds of more than 150 mph, and passed cars on the right shoulder, according to deputies."

Good way to get yourself killed right there, tons of loose gravel and debris on the shoulder, it's way too easy to lose traction and control at high speeds.

Every time I suggest we gave cars restricted to top speeds of 85 I'm told you need that speed and power to safely pass people going slower than the speed limit.
So if the limit is 65 and someone is doing 50 you HAVE to have a car that does 0 to 60 in 2.9 with a top speed over 200 to safely get around that car.

They should auction off the car and donate the $ to a soup kitchen.  Give the guy a month or so in jail so he learns what slow is then give him probation with community service at that kitchen.   And no license for 5 years.   1 year is easy enough to manage, 5 is painful.

Years ago, I had a friend who was clocked at 140 about two miles south of where this happened...and yes, the police seized his car and sold it.

Just how is it safer to have the pig join in to that 100+ idiocy?

Well, if he had done the PIT, there was a non-zero chance both of them would have ended up in Lake Lanier (if there were where I think they were).

If that isn't justification for a Sheriff's department chopper, I don't know what is!

Not sure what the problem is. Hurricane Ian's wind speed hit 155 mph. They were trying to escape.

In Oregon the car would had been seized immediately and put up for auction.

This wasn't his first time.
Nor would have been his last.

He would have done it again
And again
And again
And again
And again

Until he killed some family.

I call it the hostility highway. People drive a wee bit aggressively on it.

That wasn't GA 400 so I guess they had exited it.

GT-R's are awesome everywhere but looks.  They look a kid took 3 plastic model's and glued them together.

I'm seeing more of this on the highway anymore. Dunno if it's the generation raised on GTA, or what, but these motherfarkers need to do real time.  Either that or start using Hellfires on them.

TFA said Asshat had exited on Pilgrim Mill and it looks like he was on the other side of the Marina cove. A PIT would have been really ugly.
