A person could have a heap of fun with a couple thousand meters of strong fishing line and a skookum kite in that wind.

Grammarist (and elsewhere):

Amok is the 21st-century standard spelling of the word meaning (1) in a frenzy to do violence, or (2) in an uncontrolled state. Amuck is an old alternative spelling of the Malaysian loanword, and it had a few decades of prevalence before the middle 20th century, but it has now fallen out of favor.

Seems like a lot of razor-sharp pieces of corrugated metal roofing flying around.

No master breaker switch at that gas station?  Seems odd and the insurance company may look into that, if they have the time and staff.

Remember kids, this is just a stiff breeze showing how very poorly Florida building codes are adhered to. Imagine what a few well-placed Rus nukes would do.

I expect quite a few of their warheads are not as viable as they're supposed to be. The weapons need to be maintained regularly and it doesn't seem as if maintenance has been a priority for the Russian military for some time.

Notice at one point, a chunk actually embeds itself in the side of a streetlight.

It literally means "Fat Point". Also, Boca Raton means "mouse mouth".

That's actually the name of a condo complex in Ft. Lauderdale. I don't think the name really means anything in Spanish...they probably add "Boca" into anything to make it seem as if it may have something to do with Boca Raton.

I live in West Boca about half the time and watched Ian go by. It has its good points...mainly, that there's a lot of very high income people around so things are extremely well-maintained. I can't remember the last time the power went out for any reason, even when Irma hit. You can get great stuff at Goodwill or just sitting on the curb. The crime rate is extremely low.

On the downside, it's only a matter of decades before climate change is a serious problem here. Certain people will have difficulty living in a place like this, because it turns into a "keeping up with _____" problem. if you're ok driving around in a regular car and wearing regular clothes while seeing Lamborghinis and people with clothes that cost as much as your regular car, you get the best of both worlds.

That's I how I felt living in Naples with my crappy Ford Escape. :)
