Wow, Ybor City has changed since I used to go, It used to be The Masquerade and The Castle. Now they're raising chickens.

As a former Tampan... Tampanian...whatever... this is really cool.

I've got pictures of those chickens' parents and grandparents.

There have been generations of feral chickens there for years. You could potentially leave The Castle, head over to the tracks, and see them snoozing on low branches or under people's porches.

Yeah, Masquerade was pretty awesome.  The Castle is decent enough, but the floor dips toward the middle, which is a bit unnerving.  I wonder if "The Senator" still goes there?

If "Chicken-Specific Performance Supplements" isn't yet an album title, it damn well should be.

Didn't that become the Spaghetti Co. Restaurant? I could be mixing up Steely Dan albums (jk I think that's Pretzel Factory) but I remember going with my grandparents to Ybor city for dinner at an old cigar factory.

Yes... and no.

That site did become a restaurant although I'm not sure it's open anymore. I do know that they planned on keeping it a museum at one point but I'm not sure what happened with that. (I suppose we could Google it but for now, working from memory.)

However, there are still cigar making places in that section of town. Smaller scale of course but there are places where you can watch them being made as well as other places that are lounges in which you can relax with one.

While not being a smoker, myself I am very smoker friendly and those places smell so good.
