I've seen some low-carb professionals talking about Alzheimer's as being more akin to a type 3 diabetes. They point to sun-downing and the idea that overnight a body will produce the ketones that don't require insulin to provide energy to the brain. But it's a hard field to study well, and institutions are afraid to call USDA guidelines bunkum.
