"I have nothing to hide," Majewski said at the end of a brief news conference Friday.

Ah, the Gary Hart Challenge. Let's see how that plays out. It'll be fun to see who breaks the last straw story, The AP or The National Enquirer.

"In a statement, Majewski acknowledged that he was punished for drunken driving, though he didn't address why his campaign previously said his demotion was the result of a fight."

MAGA!

Drunk driving on an airbase.  Few people ever get the chance to do something THAT stupid.

"This mistake is now more than 20 years old. I'm sure we've all done something as young adults that we look back on and wonder 'what was I thinking?' and I'm sure our parents and grandparents share these sentiments," Majewski said.

'parents and grandparents'...what does that have to do with anything here?  Is he dropping a non-sequitur appeal to tradition in his drunk driving "sorry I got caught lying" apology?

MAGA!

He went with the fighting part because that sounds tougher.

But being a drunken asshole is what leads to fighting in most cases, not being some hero warrior.

So he was probably disciplined for being a drunken, combative asshole in a support position.  And that doesn't sound as good as "I'm a scrappy war veteran".

Yeah, largely cause you suck at hiding it saying it's "classified".

He's pandering to older conservatives while also using the "he who is without sin" implied threat.

In general he's not wrong, but the problem is he was LYING about it and kept on lying.  Instead of taking responsibility and learning from a youthful indiscretion he showed nothing has changed within his character.

Not everyone can just get away with blatant lies like god emperor Trump.

Man, I never thought I'd see this kind of silliness from my congressional race.

Granted, I wasn't expecting to be a voter in this race. Gerrymandering is weird...but I'll happily vote for Marcy Kaptur.

I don't think I've seen a Majewski sign anywhere.

Messing up 20 years ago is forgivable unless you are still lying about it in the here and now.

Republicans hate vets and military members. So they'll probably vote for this douche anyway.

1. My tour in Afghanistan was so badass that I went four tens of days without a shower. And that was terrible.

2. Er, records? My Afghanistan tour was so badass it classified.

3. Er, my records aren't classified? Okay, I wasn't in Afghanistan. But I had a badass tour in Japan.

4. Er, demoted and barred? Yeah, I was in this badass drunken brawl in the dorms.

5. Er, no brawl? Okay, I was driving drunk on base. But it was in my badass car.

What's next? We find out instead of a car he was on a farking kick scooter when he was caught?

Yeah but Kaptur usually wins with no issues. Her closest race was 55%-44% back in 1984. The second closest was 59%-41% in 2010.

It's great to see an insurrectionist get trounced but I'd rather him get trounced in a district that leans purple.

On the flip side of my comment I am concerned with redistricting. My county is very conservative and a small portion was attached to her district. It might depress the vote a little. Luckily, I've not noticed any Majewski signs in my area

Ultra elite top secret operatives are given cover by fabricating things like drunk driving in their service records, so that enemies of America trying to suss them out will be thrown off the scent. "Surely a literal covert ops superhero wouldn't have taken 4 years to attain E2. We can safely write him off as a buffoon."

Looks like it worked again.

Study it out.

There is a whole class of Americans who can't get student loans, housing assistance, food aid or any other federal benefit because they made the youthful mistake of getting caught with a joint.

Will you first act be to correct this?

"I have nothing to hide," Majewski said at the end of a brief news conference Friday.

Translation: "I'm just trying to pimp-up my service in the USAF in order to get some veteran street-cred with the delusional halfwits in this area so they'll vote for me. I never thought anyone would actually look into my record and notice I was lying."

Pretty weaksauce, even for a derpublican. He got caught in a lie, so he's lying some more to avoid repercussions for getting caught in a lie. "When caught in a lie, lie again" is a stupid reflex, but fairly common among politicians of all stripes. Even unpleasant truths are serviceable. Lies break under strain. Keeping the lies consistent is actually harder than dealing with the consequences of telling the truth.

he did not deploy to Afghanistan as he claimed, but instead spent six months based in Qatar, a longtime U.S. ally, where he helped load and unload aircraft

What ever happened to 'stolen valor' that Republicans used to be so fond of screaming about?

Was McCain the last Republican politician who didn't lie about their military record?

2022-09-29 8:36:26 AM
Military records show Majewski's only deployment was to Qatar. Last Friday, during a defiant news conference, he insisted that he did indeed serve in Afghanistan, though he declined to offer specifics because he said the details were "classified."

I was going to joke that he should just tell these liberal media stooges his work is classified, then I kept reading and wow

Is this the same smorg who said he was a super-secret badass in Afghanistan?

I'm as civilian as civilian gets and even I recognize that leaving service after four years, as an E-2, is... not great?

2022-09-29 8:45:53 AM
Also, if your work was classified, wouldn't you be smacked down instantly and brutally for... publicly referencing that classified work?

FTA:  "By his own account, he once went more than 40 days in the country without a shower due to a lack of running water."

The circumstances that qualify as Combat Hardship for the Air Force are as follows:

1. Having to endure a Holiday Inn because the Marriott was full of Aircrew.
2. Not having Marriott points credited to your account within 7 days.
3. Losing the argument the breakfast was included in the rate.
4. Reduced housekeeping cycle.

Any or all of these will qualify the Warfighter for the Combat Hardship Medal and years of continued pisstaking from anyone in the real Armed Services.

Republicans and lying about military service seems to be a common theme these days. DeFascist tried to pretend that he was a Navy Seal when in reality he may have given a seal a hand job or something at some point.

Dude, you can't base your campaign on your 20 year-old military service without your service from 20 years ago coming up.

Ita gonna be a lot closer than you'd like. More than I am comfortable with.  Repubs drew the district to make it more of a toss up.   With Tim Ryan's going away, and his areas being spread around solid Republican districts, Ohio could be down to 2/15 democratic reps, for a state that is 55 percent republican.

So he's a liar, so what?  That just means all the other liars will vote for him.  Representative democracy.

2022-09-29 9:56:16 AM
Yeah.   The former guy aka, liar in chief proved this.

Deplorable Republican assholes would vote someone that blatantly lies about his military service and work experience rather than have a Democrat elected.

It's like a sort of MAGA Captain America saying

"When Reality tells you that you're wrong, your job is to stamp your feet beside the river of MAGA next to the Donald Trump tree, a most beautiful tree, the most beststest tree ever, and tell the whole world - "No, Reality. YOU'RE wrong!."
