The tit-for-tat legislation

Ohhhhhhh?

*looks up actual definition of the term*

Oh....

Sounds like taxing interstate commerce to me (upon first read.) NJ should escalate by charging a higher gas tax for NY drivers ($8 extra a gallon sounds about right to offset and would be simple enough to enforce.)

C18H27NO3: Why would I be in NJ?

To buy gas and cigarettes. Or to live for commuting to my job in Manhattan.

2022-09-29 1:30:40 AM
New York, I love you, but you dumb as hell.  Get your sh*t together.

2022-09-29 1:45:33 AM
So NY is going to charge NJ drivers because their state won't give NY the data necessary to charge their drivers? I think I see a small flaw in that plan.

2022-09-29 1:50:14 AM
I thought they all just rode the subway and yelled 'I'm walking here!'

Nobody drives in New York. There's too much traffic

That's only $50 to leave Jersey. I call it a bargain.

Have each state put real dicks on the line.  Have them send their ten biggest dicks to the contest.  Then they jack it and get hard.  Then they wave them around and have them measured for volume.  The ten dick team with the greatest combined volume wins.  The losers have their dicks cut off and fed to pigs.

Or whatever is the desired measurement. Greatest total girth or total length. Just as long as the stakes are dick loss for the losers.

Problem solved.

Unless you are delivering something, or some other special case, there is no reason to drive into Manhattan--itrains, busses, exist for a reason.

C18H27NO3: Why would I be in NJ?

We have beaches, amusement parks, water parks, arcades, pizza, majority Jewish areas, majority Muslim areas, majority Asian areas, and I don't know about umpteenth other reasons a large chunk of New Yorkers and Pennsylvanians come here each summer!?

2022-09-29 2:23:05 AM
This is because New York state wants to support revenue generating traffic cameras. Just get the NYPD and NY State Police to pull over and ticket speeding/hazardous drivers like normal states do. Based on how they drive in New Jersey, I would say a large chunk of those tickets will be from NYS drivers!

NJ, we still remember Bridgegate, ffs.

I think that's a great idea, considering the cost of asthma attacks and opportunity cost from sitting in traffic. Especially with the effect of emissions on a couple hundred thousand Covid "survivors" in the cities on either side of the toll booths.

You have Snooki and bad pizza. And that smelly chemical odor that permeates most of the state I occasionally unfortunately have to drive through.

I mean if we could dump Staten Island on you guys it's be a complete write off.

NY: "Yeah.  And it's deep, too!"

NJ drivers should really stiggit to NY by not driving in and taking the train instead.  That'll show em.

I don't.  The fee is charged based on the license plate displayed. And you have to fork over your personal info if you don't have the fee right then and there.

I don't know about cigarettes but gas isn't that much cheaper anymore.

New York area had the most "super-commuters" in the country who spend more than 90 minutes getting to work each way.

Door to door comes close if I were still commuting. 10 min walk to NJT, 65-80 min on the bus (depending), then the shuttle from the PABT to Grand Central. Seems horrible but when I lived in Queens it was a 10-15 min bus ride to the subway, 45 min subway ride.

WFH: 5 min to my desk with a detour to take care of the pets and start the coffee.

The only people who should be driving in the City of New York are public transit, goods transport and emergency personnel.  That city can no longer support the luxury of individual cars.

2022-09-29 9:03:31 AM
fark me, it already costs me $30 in tolls to go to Jersey and back to Brooklyn.

2022-09-29 9:08:24 AM
folks in NJ are there because the cost of living is lower than NYC, and they pay the bulk of their non federal taxes to NJ (NYC has a 3-4% income tax)

/if they're making their income in NYC
//they need to pay for NYC infrastructure
///or, you know, they could simply move across the river if they want to avoid the expense of commuting

I live in Colorado. We haven't had bad fires this year. And the drought, well the water starts here, so it sucks to be down stream

Don't be. It's OK - We don't miss you. You don't miss me either, since I haven't been up to see you in a decade.

It is cool how you've turned every building in Manhattan into a Bum Urinal, though. Fits you.

Why Live in NJ.....

"In its annual report 2022's Best States to Live In, WalletHub factored in cost of living with job opportunities, quality of education and safety. The Garden State was second overall behind Massachusetts - though it was 48th in cost of living, just ahead of Hawaii and California. Mississippi ranked last overall in this year's study."

First to admit, not hiding anything. It costs to live here. You get what you pay for.

NJ Ranks 1 in education (multiple sources).
NJ Ranks 4 in Health Care.
NJ Ranks 5 in crime (higher # is lower crime, before you say anything)
NJ Ranks around 4 in diversity.

Grew up in Passaic Count, NJ. Currently in Monmouth County (last 31 years).

Traffic can be a bear depending upon where you live,

We certainly have our issues. But been here a long time and would not trade it for anything.
Retired now, hope to stay here (but looking good). NJ can also be a bear for retirees.

NJ location puts in reach of just about anything (east, west, north, south). Shores are great (not free, but very clean). NY about 30-60 minutes depending upon where you live.

etc.. etc..

Why, hello neighbor!

Few downsides is no Sheetz in New Jersey (closest one from my town is 1 hour 45 mins to 2 hours depending on traffic, in Easton, PA), after summer most of those fun arcades/stores/restaurants/amusement parks close down for the season (and the ones that are year round, like the new East Rutherford mall at the Meadowlands is insanely expensive), and Pennsylvania drivers who don't know NJ traffic laws hog the left lane because they don't read the sign coming in that says "Keep Right, Pass Left", and some of the jughandles are badly designed Type-As where the traffic from both ways between lights is too heavy to make the turn (even after 2 or 3 lights) or type C where the "Left Turn Only at Green Arrow" lanes are three lanes over (jughandle at Rt. 35/36 intersection in Eatontown from Rt. 36 West to Rt. 35 South).

Snooki is an implant, as are all but one of the Jersey Shore cast. So the smell was imported from New York, just like the garbage smells we got from Staten Island.

where is your sound?
where are your falls?
where are your thousand islands?
where are you finger lakes?
