Of course, the rational way to address this record wheat production is to sent farmers to die in a hopeless war.

Double plus good!

Are we sure they're not counting the wheat they stole from Ukraine?

2022-09-28 6:37:43 PM
So how many kidnapped Ukrainians harvested that wheat?

They are definitely counting the wheat they stole from Ukraine, as well as making up the rest of the numbers.

Gonna have a famine that will kill 600,000 people? Conscript 300,000 people into a fight that ensures certain death so those that starve count themselves amongst the lucky.

Russia says lots of things. Some of them almost aren't whole-assed lies.

Why count grain when you can make up numbers?

It appeared that there had even been demonstrations to thank Big Brother for raising the chocolate ration to twenty grams a week. And only yesterday ... it had been announced that the ration was to be reduced to twenty grams a week.

"I'm considering going long on April wheat. What do you think, Valentine?"

"I can think of three good reasons why you shouldn't do that, judge. One, the Russian wheat harvest isn't going to be as bad as people think, and two..."

/First thing I thought of.

2022-09-28 6:56:52 PM
So Russia's going to subsist on wheat and wheat by-products this winter.

/Maybe they'll be able to find a way to sic the poisonous serpents and malevolent spirits against the Ukrainians?

"Announces record [insert crop] harvest" conjures up images of a failing or at best developing nation. Imagine a 60 minutes interview focusing on the impressive sorghum harvest in South Dakota with a big sad parade down some side street.

Have they got enough pyramids to store it in?

That's right...

*TWO* bushels.

Doesn't Russia produce a lot of fertilizer? I know that fertilizer prices have been high because of the war.  So, if Russia produces the fertilizer and can't ship it out, it would be smart if the orcs then used the fertilizer for them to produce grain.

Starving to death is too good for them.

I have subscriptions to all the major agricultural trade magazines. Farm Policy News is bush league checkout counter trash. The page 6 pumpkins are laughable photoshops.

Remember when Russia had a plethora of stray dogs roaming the streets?

Plus, you don't have to feed dead Russians, so more wheat for the rest of them.

What a coincidence; Ukrainian tank harvest is their highest ever.

Russia has been plagued with horrible leadership throughout it's history.

They had exported potash, in large amounts. Canada is the largest producer, with Russia coming in second place.
The US gets most of it's potash from Canada, and also produces some domestically.

Probably helped by a good bit of stolen farm machinery too. At least, the stuff that the manufacturer didn't brick after they took it

So.  Some of their alchemical orcs might have suggested to the great orc king that if they can't export potash, they should use it to make grain.  Since they won't be getting food imports.  I won't sell to Russia.  And I pray to Biden every day to set up an embargo in Russia so they can't get any resources. Even after the war.  Total isolation and embargo.  For a thousand years... or longer.  Make them evolve into a separate species.  If they survive.  Then when they are not homo sapiens prime but instead homo orcensis, we can eliminate them without guilt.  They won't be the same species.  They will be other.  They will be meat.  By then humxns will have evolved and merged with the machines anyways.  We will be transcendent.  We will beyond the meat, only needing the orcs for raw materials.

It's a record because they're stealing Ukraine's wheat and counting it as their own.

Yeah Mikey1969, and the rest of the World is lying about Russia being the Worlds largest exporter.

Everything is a lie, you can't quite figure out how, but you know it is.

Putting the Ho back in Holodomor -- the willful starvation of 4M Ukraine farmers and others in 1932-33 by every means possible, ultimately taking seeds for next years crop.   They almost got away with a total news blackout, but those Holocaust survivors kept remembering the unthinkable had happened more than once.

Considering the war started well before wheat harvest, I'm not sure how much wheat there was to plunder. Maybe leftovers from last season...

Quinn explained that, "Russian wheat export prices have recently turned more competitive against other origins like France and the US,

I wonder if there might be a very, very good reason why Russia has to undercut the prices charged by the French and the Americans in order to sell on the global market.

Once you've stolen all of Ukraine's wheat, of course you claim that it's because you had a record wheat harvest.

Then, next year, when you have neither wheat nor farmers, you blame it all on those dastardly Ukrainians killing off noble, productive Russian farmers in a pointless war, and voila! Starving angry mob AND an enemy at which to point them.

Stalin would be proud.
