Ugh. Screwed up the Episode number. Should be Episode 4, not 5.

I find myself struggling to come to terms with the fact that this show is expertly written, produced and acted. Where are the Boston Dynamic robots? Where are the janky creature effects? Where are the scooter teens? Where are the cameos by C-list comedians and musicians? Where are the pointlessly overlong establishing shots!? Where are the outdoor scenes that have to all take place during magic hour or in the fog because they can't crank the LED screens any brighter than that? And who put all this grown-up dialogue in my Star Wars!?!?!?

(I still have complaints, but they are shockingly sparse)

I love this show so much.

Such a shame that Fark can't come up with the technology to have the title of the show put at the front of the headline rather than spoilers that get read right away by people who'd prefer to just wait until an entire season is out prior to watching. The investment of resources required to pull off such a Herculean task must dwarf Zimbabwe's GDP.

Yeah, how dare every headline not cater to farker WoodyHayes' every little whim.

Nice, slow burn episode. Sets up a lot of pieces. Lots of politics happening, everywhere.

The Mon Mothma scene with her husband was both surprising and good.

Wondering if we're going to get a Bail Organa cameo...

The "LIVE" threads with an IMDB link are always current episode discussion threads for various shows, have been for quite some time now, so if you're the type of person who wants to wait, the graphic and tag should be your instant visual signal to NOT read the headline.

It's worked for me just fine. I've never had a Fark discussion thread title spoil something I haven't seen yet because I know the headline will be about some show's current episode before even reading it.

That this was posted unironically tells me that I'm not missing anything. So thanks.

How soon till the show logo is redone as Clem?

So far, this has been exactly what I'd hoped to see in new Star Wars. Lots of on-the-ground, real people. A real look at life in this universe. It feels lived in and tangible. And now, we're starting to get some great behind the scenes at the Imperials and, soon, the Rebellion.

It's also been great proof that you can do varied types of stories in this world. They don't all need to try and recapture the magic of Star Wars and Empire. Hell, they shouldn't try that.

This has been great.

Which is the answer to everyone who says, "Andor, who's that guy? Who asked for this?"

Doesn't matter who asked for it, if it's this good.

No, no, no! See the lack of an "ian". It makes all the difference... these people aren't blue at all!

Clem Fandango?

I have to say I'm loving this show so far.

This was entirely unexpected and I'm not sure how to handle all the emotions I'm feeling.

Is this show actually good?  I have zero interest in the character and generally think that Disney star wars as a whole has been trash or at best missing the mark.

My opinions specifically:
Ep 7 was ok, 8 wasn't great but had some interesting go-forwards. 9 was terrible and retroactively made 7+8 much worse.
Rogue 1 was complete garbage, except for the last half hour which was solid.  Andor was the worst character in it, which makes me have little interest in this series.
Solo - unnecessary and stupid, except for Lando who was pretty spot on.
Mando - It's ok.  Baby Yoda is cloying.
Fett - sucked
Obi-Wan - mostly sucked.  Little Leia was more annoying than Baby Yoda.  And this is coming from someone that likes Ewoks.

I really would like to enjoy Star Wars again, but I have mostly decided to skip this one until I hear overwhelming evidence that it is actually good.  So is it?

Based on what you said, I think you should try it out. I say that as someone who thought Rogue One got dumber and dumber as it went along and doesn't trust a soul who says, "It's the best one!"

Great episode.  I missed the little sidekick droid, though.  I liked that little guy.

So, now that the ISB is starting to get involved, is Yularen going to make an appearance? Maybe Kallus? Nightswan? I doubt a certain blue Admiral will show up, though.

This isn't even good Star Wars.  It's just straight up good storytelling.  I am stoked to see Forrest Whitaker reprise Saw Gerrera.

Hey Mouse!  MORE LIKE THIS!!!

That ISB major is a paper-pusher who keeps his people silo'd and allows them to build fiefdoms. I wonder how long he'll last. Perhaps that's where we get the Vader cameo.

So, anyone else thinking that the person Mon Mothma is bringing in might be Fulcrum? As far as I know it would fit the timeline, and tie in to the eventual Ahsoka show to an extent, if only by letting the audience know more about her background for those who haven't seen Rebels.

You won't like it.  Go watch Lower Decks.

I actually tried 3 eps of the Lower Decks and it didn't grab me.  The jokes seemed forced and obvious, and I've never been a huge Trek fan anyhow.

Still really liking Andor.  Actually taking the time to tell the story, to have characters portrayed well and reacting in mostly believable ways ... good stuff.

Andor is the best SW content to date. Best dialogue, best casting, best acting, and best cinematography. I really hope they keep it up.

And without a doubt: the most terrifying TIE fighter scene to date.

August11: And without a doubt: the most terrifying TIE fighter scene to date.

It IS kind of nice to be reminded that they're supposed to be scary, not pure canon fodder.

The "put more on the screen, more, more, more!" approach of the sequels had the opposite of the intended effect. Seeing a thousand Star Destroyers on screen, for example, turned one of the most menacing ships in sci-fi into just another pixel amidst a whole bunch of chaos.

Less is often more.

It's absolutely brilliant. This is what Star Wars can be when it's done by competent adults.
