Those two are so wholesome together.

Future.  Also defininely another timeline, from either of the XMen timelines OR the main MCU one.  That second was actually clear even before the Multiverse stuff was official.

They were busy up at that cabin.

I'm assuming now more "updates" are coming.

As a comic-book devotee and MCU nerd, I found that explanation both entirely plausible and conforming to the established MCU and FoX-Men timelines.

/they earned that !

It's been a while since I've seen anything from the bad ones, this would be perfect.

I think the Fox X-Men universe has multiple timelines, so potentially multiple Hugh Jackman Wolverines to choose from:

Pre-Days of Future Past (X-Men, X2, The Last Stand)
Two post-DoFP (one being the revised "original" future, the other being the continuity containing Apocalypse and Dark Phoenix)
Deadpool and Deadpool 2 (which may take place in the Apocalypse/Dark Phoenix continuity)
Logan (I had read it was supposed to be separate from the rest)

Alternatively there could also be yet another Wolverine variant. Yay, multiverse!

There's also "X-Men Origins: Wolverine" (with that OTHER Deadpool) and "The Wolverine".  I'm guessing that these are both in the Pre-DoFP timeline, but they could be their own timeline as well... I could swear parts of it don't mesh with the events of X-Men, but it's been awhile since I've seen any of them.

I believe both of those were consistent with the original X-Men 1-3 timeline.  But First Class tinkered around somewhat and then DoFP negated almost everything after Wolverine arrived at Xavier's school.

Deep cut theory is the movie is a Spider-Man No Way Home concept, maybe part Multiverse of Madness instead, but is explicitly about bringing together a whole bunch of Deadpools, Wolverines, and if they talked any of them into it, other Xmen cast.  Casually, probably ridiculously killing off silly invented variants, joking about the original Reynolds Deadpool, etc, and (possibly) introducing the actual main MCU Wolverine.

Hm, how deep down a rabbit hole are we going? DP was set in today time, but the First Class X-men was there for the cut-away gag in DP2.

Multiverse is fine, but my version of the script would involve seeing Logan's obituary from the future (possibly Cable involved in spoilers) and doing a bucket-list or weekend at Bernie's stag party type of story.

You probably almost have to have Logan die at the end, regardless. But make it fun.

I'm still waiting to see Elektra die on screen more than once in the same movie.

/None of this dead at the end of one movie, alive in the next nonsense.
//Elektra dies in a terrible way. Imagine dropping a large balloon full of chunky soup.
///Next scene, a perfectly dressed and coiffed Elektra walks in and no one says anything.

It's going to be like The 5th Element where Dallas and Zorg never actually meet, even if they are on screen together (albeit very briefly in the case of Dallas/Zorg.)

I hope that, other than a sarcastic fourth wall breaking reference, the term multiverse does not exist in this movie.
