OK - So do your show from a 12' row boat in the middle of Port Charlotte bay tonight.  Prove it.

Deadly Hurricane Ian, nearing Category 5 strength, threatens 'catastrophic' storm surge as it nears Florida. It's too late to leave for many, governor says

But hey, why not listen to the guy who told you ivermectin would clear up any COVID you catch in a New York minute?

You know what are other scams, when the Government tells you that you can't look directly at a solar eclipse or antifreeze isn't safe to drink.

A weak, legally-constrained central government with a minimal budget and few (if any) social safety nets is really nice if you're rich, and also if you never have a hurricane, earthquake, flood, drought, economic crisis, pandemic, opioid epidemic, environmental crisis, or asteroid on course for Earth that can only be addressed at a national level.

Therefore, any of those things are really just scams to make people believe that having a functioning federal government is important. Oh, Tucker is onto you big-government meteorologists!

Your face is a scam, Tucker.

Long ago, a storm was heading for the city of Quin'lat. Everyone took protection within the walls except one man who remained outside. Kahless went to him and asked what he was doing. "I am not afraid," the man said. "I will not hide my face behind stone and mortar. I will stand before the wind and make it respect me." Kahless honored his choice and went back inside. The next day, the storm came, and the man was killed. Kahless replied, "The wind does not respect a fool".

Tucker Carlson should be beaten within an inch of his life on live TV and then, just as he is about to die, we should go the extra mile.

/Give me a reason not to believe that Tuck

I know it sounds ghoulish, but I will feel slightly happier in general once Tucker Carlson is dead.

Hopefully as a result of the Fox News building getting launched into the sun.

Tucker Carlson is just jealous because Hurricane Ian is getting more attention than him . . . and is more popular.

I hate to say this but Tucker Carlson is the perfect example of why China will eventually dominate everything. Free speech is great until the Tuckers of the World use it with blatant disregard for any form of responsible constraint. It's pure vanity and greed. China would have shot him through the head ages ago whereas we will or maybe "have to" allow it until it literally divides us so irreparably that we collectively burn the place down.

Easy to prove they're just hype Tucker, just hop in a Cessna and fly in there with your film crew.

There was a hefty, popular thread on Twitter a week or so ago when the NyQuil chicken thing was happening. The FDA issued a basic statement that amounted to, "don't do this, it isn't safe."

It won't be hard to predict what the reaction was from some quarters.

Some of those goofballs even likened the statement as being right out of 1984, an Orwellian attempt to control the public, blah blah blah.

I've spent my entire life questioning authority, it's a good and healthy and necessary thing to do, but there's a difference between questioning power and being mindlessly contrarian just for the sake of it. One can be thoughtful and mature. (Not always, but can be.)

The other is always just childish idiocy.

The most generous interpretation of this is that he thinks it's ridiculous that broadcasters (including him, I'm guessing he was told he had to mention it) basically do weather porn to garner easy ratings, and often overstate the danger to keep people watching. This also happens for snowstorms.

Now, obviously a category 4 storm is legitimately dangerous. But I can understand the underlying sentiment if that's what he meant.

/I doubt it's what he meant

Tucker Carlson is proof that "We Are Devo" was an understatement.

I'm actually a bit curious about where the rest of the statement led.

Unlike Tampa Bay, Naples/Ft Myers is a solid red part of Florida. This will diminish the votes coming from the flooded districts not to mention a massive exposure the insurance crisis down here.

I fully support Tucker Carlson's opinion on hurricanes, and I urge all of his fans in Florida to stay home in solidarity. Evacuations are for pussies.

National Hurricane Center  @NHC_Atlantic   42s

Another aspect related to #Ian is the tornado risk for the Florida peninsula in outer rainbands away from the immediate center.

@NWSSPC  currently has an enhanced risk for tornadoes focusing along the E FL coastline near Daytona & West Palm Beach.

MFers out here blaming tornadoes now when WE CAN SEE YOU, IAN.

ffs.

Didn't someone say Tucker has a vacation home on Boca Grande?

I wondervif he thinks it's just hype when his home washes away?

Conservative ideology is imploding out from under him and he is not handling it very well

If you're listening to him, just go ahead and stay there. Matter of fact, it'll really own the libs if you chain your ankle to several cinder blocks before the storm hits.

Tucker could raise a fortune for the charity of his choice by charging people to kick him in the jimmy.

He's saying that the whole media "hurricane booga booga" is a scam, but that this one is real and dangerous.

As opposed to all the other ones with 75+ mph winds.

2022-09-28 12:39:45 PM
Wait till he finds out God is a scam to get that tithe money for private jets and fancy houses and cars and hookers and blow and etc...

2022-09-28 12:40:06 PM
I have a lot of friends I care about in Florida, and I'd rather not see bad things happen to them. But, that said, if this hurricane does real damage, you can absolutely bet that the slime nicknamed DeathSantez or whatever, it's not worth looking up, ain't going to be doing shiat. And you also already know any federal aid money to help out is going to get embezzled 90 cents for every dollar sent. If the blackouts and shortages in Texas are any indication, Florida will not be in a good place under Republican leadership that time and again proves itself incompetent.

2022-09-28 12:40:10 PM
He just doesn't want to acknowledge that the waters of the Gulf of Mexico are warm enough to reignite a hurricane from a Cat 1 to a Cat 5 in 36 hours.

And what that implies for the future.

I went thru Charlie in 2004 -- almost the identical scenario. But it was fast moving and about a 1/3rd of the size.

That means that in 18 years, the amount of water vapor available to a tropical system - due to Gulf of Mexico warming is just that much more.

Thank you Gulf, BP, Mobile, Exxon and Shell

See, if we would just man up and drop a tactical nuke or two in the eye of this thing, it wouldn't be an issue. But as it is? Total Scam. I bet Joe Biden did this.

Lochsteppe: I know it sounds ghoulish, but I will feel slightly happier in general once Tucker Carlson is dead.

I don't think it's ghoulish, for the simple reason that he is a genuine blight on society. He's not merely someone to disagree or someone with differing views. He is actively and knowingly causing deep (and potentially irreversible) damage to his own country, for both financial and political gain.

It's one thing to be a dumb person or bad person or whatever. It's quite another to be an active menace who knowingly does harm -- and that's exactly what he is.

So you're right.

The world will be genuinely improved after he's gone.

I do not suggest or condone someone taking matters into their own hands. Rather, just enjoy the day when Mother Nature finally takes its course. Raise a glass. Take a deep breath and enjoy the way the sun glistens off the ice in your drink.

The birds will chirp a little livelier that day.

ArcadianRefugee: He's saying that the whole media "hurricane booga booga" is a scam, but that this one is real and dangerous.

Per a Fox News source, the reason Tucker said this is because he owns a house on Gasparilla Island, where the hurricane is currently tracking to make landfall. That's why this is a "real" hurricane and the others were "scams"

2022-09-28 12:43:36 PM
Tucker Carlson is the kind of person I'd like to botch a piledriver on. Owen Hart style.

2022-09-28 12:44:43 PM
Yet another demonstration that Tucker and viewers of his show struggle with concepts like 'object permanence.' Since a lot of them never see the damage from a hurricane firsthand they decide for themselves that "maybe it's all not real," and that all the footage of damage on the news must just be mocked up.

Exactly. Gasoline I can pour into a cup and drink. I can see it, touch it and taste it. I know what it is.

Now all this electricity vehicle nonsense? It is just a hoax. Show me what goes in a Tesla, you can't! There is nothing there, not even a gas tank or an oversized cup-holder.

2022-09-28 12:48:04 PM
I thought he meant it like the media sensationalising weather events to drive viewership was a scam. I assume most rational people would too, unless you are being deliberately obtuse to score some kind of points here (?)

Rosencrantz: I don't believe in it anyway.

Guildenstern: What?

Rosencrantz: England. Florida.

Guildenstern: Just a conspiracy of cartographers, then?
