From the study...
"The extract of onion bulb, Allium cepa, strongly lowered high blood glucose (sugar) and total cholesterol levels in diabetic rats when given with the antidiabetic drug metformin, according to a new study. "

sooooo you took Metformin as well???

Methinks there needs to be more testing here.

"This is the most healthy vegetable to ever exist"

"Wall Street genius expects stock in this food to skyrocket"

"Play this game for two minutes and you'll play it forever--while you eat brussels sprouts"

Is anyone else sick of clickbait? Will they put your bank balance or your blood test behind a paywall? Is the Internet becoming more trouble than it's worth?

I found out metformin is the #1 drug in anti-aging studies and type 1 diabetics on metformin have 40% less heart disease and cancer. I immediately asked my endocrinologist for a script.

A processed extract from onions along with Metformin. Yeah, I'm convinced.

The scientists involved also agree that more funding for further studies is extremely important.

You're pretty much guaranteed to throw away edible onion parts when you prep.

We harvested about 30 lbs of garlic this year.  If you haven't tried it look up Lebanese Garlic Sauce. Dead simple to make and a great substitute for mayo and/or ranch dressing.

Good lord, that looks good.  Do you always make it with raw garlic, or do you sometimes do roasted?

I freaking loathe garlic in anything but minute amounts. The smell makes me sick to my stomach. But that's me. If you like it feel free to eat my share.

Okay, yes, but be aware that an uncommon side effect of metformin is pancreatitis, and the problem is with pancreatitis - other than the fact that is incredibly painful - is that if you go to the ER with diffuse, severe abdominal pain and you're female or black or queer or neuro-diverse, you may well be blown off as crazy, drug seeking, or hypochondriac. One of the few times I haven't been able to get a doctor to take me seriously, and that was when I'd already vomited in the waiting room and hadn't eaten in two days.

Food can interact with drugs to produce a stronger effect than the drug alone. The standard example is grapefruit, which interacts with a liver enzyme.
