No shame in a draw against a traditional soccer powerhouse like... Saudi Arabia.

GGG has lost the locker room.

I like Canada's chances more.

NFL fans still sad their sport isn't the most popular in the world by any margin, while their players go brain dead and run for senate. Crazy concept that other sports have different rules on winning too. So crazy to grasp this

Also. Never ever tell a NFL fan that a TD is one point.  They lose their minds grasping that logic.

We lost the last game before the World Cup 2002. Reyna going out early is the most important thing to worry about, and even that seemed more paranoia than actual injury.

Maybe they purchased some good players?

Like Quartar did.

Do they really care?

If they did, they'd have a real league, and allow players to transfer.

Oh look, it's THAT hipster...

You know who America's greatest soccer talent would have been if he wanted to play soccer?

Greg Louganis. He'd rather dive for gold medals and HIV than dive on the pitch.

No, winning remains the same. Higher score when time expires.

You sure you watch soccer?

At least the men's team is going this time.

Be realistic. The US will likely never win the World Cup. They'll have to get through Germany, Brazil, Italy, the Netherlands, England, Argentina, at least two of those high level teams and maybe as many as four, for that to happen.

I'll be happy if they make it out of their group. And if they don't, maybe they do the next time. But that's all anyone can reasonably expect.

The way England and the US are playing, Wales and Iran each have a decent chance at advancing.

/Why not both?

This isn't just 1 game where they've looked like crap, though.

Yeah. If your alarm bells aren't ringing like crazy, you haven't been paying attention.

I am a soccer fan and this game was terribly boring to watch, if this is how you expect Americans to get excited about the World Cup then its a really poor example of a game to watch. Like making Detroit play Cleveland in the UK would fail to get England into NFL.

So they're gonna get eliminated in pool play, huh?

Wales got relegated, too.

Personally, the huge discrepancy between action and absolutely nothing going on is too large. I did try to watch it, but it never hooked me. And I found the constant chanting irritating.

I think the action/inaction discrepancy in the NFL is bad, but it is nowhere near soccer.

I get why soccer is played worldwide. One only needs a ball to play; simple, cheap, and easy.

I get it.

Having said that, there's a huge gulf between bad soccer (MLS, for the most part) and good soccer (the top leagues in England, Spain, Italy). Between good teams, a draw can be thrilling. Between bad teams, almost nothing can make the game interesting.

I'd be surprised if we made it out. Fingers crossed, but I just don't see enough in the squad as GGG has it constructed to give us much chance.
