McConnell said the "chaos" of the pro-Trump attack on the Capitol last year "certainly underscored the need for an update."

Ah, yes. "Chaos." As in, "this attack happened in a way that I was not able to control, and I'm concerned that the next time this happens it might work and I will end up in a significantly diminished position of power. We need to enforce tight controls that ensure the only people who attempt to usurp our government in the future are ones who are fully committed to me, and I will stand up proudly as an American to ensure that our country is safe from any future attacks that do not have my explicit blessing."

Despite being a complete piece of shiat on most every issue, he has been consistent in supporting or Democracy and electoral process while condemning Jan 6th, so he has that going for him... I guess

The Exit Stencilist: he has been consistent in supporting or Democracy and electoral process while condemning Jan 6th,

Yes, absolutely. His refusal to support Donald Trump's impeachment for masterminding the whole thing was a shining beacon of heroic support for democracy, the sort that will go down in history books as an inspiration to us all. It's like Athens was reborn in the soul of Mitch McConnell.

Look, they need to get something on the books before 2024. The whole reason 2020 almost worked is because there's a big enough loophole for someone like Guiliani to drive his idiot train through. They need to close it. This will close it.

Oh FFS. Let me abridge your post
HOW DARE YOU SAY ANYTHING NICE ABOUT A SCUMBAG I DESPISE!!!!!!

Look guy, maybe he didn't support the impeachment, but in fact, that's on the Cabinet for not invoking the 25 amendment on Trump's ass. And let's be real honest here, the GOP has been party before country for some time now and there was never any real chance of Trump being impeached by the Senate, even after Jan 6th, and many GOP Senators were in on it and supporting the attempted coup and derailment of our Democracy

Just because you don't agree with my statement does not make me your enemy. It's shiat like this that causes independents to say FARK YOU to the Dems and vote for the GOP or other parties, because who wants to vote for the party of unhinged people who yell and scream and act like twats and lash out with attacks if you say anything they disagree with?

"Congress' process for counting the presidential electors' votes was written 135 years ago. The chaos that came to a head on January 6th of last year certainly underscored the need for an update," added McConnell. "So did Januaries 2001, 2005 and 2017. In each of which, Democrats tried to challenge the lawful election of a Republican president."

Ah, there you have it. "Both sides are bad, and I real reason I support this bill is because it will prevent Democrats from doing anything when we get caught cheating, as we did in 2000, 2004, and 2016."

"Chaos" is some passive voice Jordan Peterson bullshiat doublespeak.
