The first person who ate that stuff must have been really hungry.

I mean literally starving, so hungry that your body will give you a huge dopamine burst just for any nutrition at all. After that, they were convinced it tasted good.

/I have never been that hungry, but I am told food will never taste as good as that.

Kusaya, which was mentioned in TFA, is actually really tasty. It's a bit smelly when it's grilling, but tastes great, especially with some nice dry sake to wash iat down.
