As goofy as the Star Trek Online game is, I have to admit their Deep Space Nine storylines were pretty cool.

This looks like it might be even better

But now, in the comic, Benjamin Sisko has returned from the Bajoran Wormhole with a task from The Prophets. Much like Thor's Gorr "The God Butcher", something in the Star Trek universe is hunting down and killing the galaxy's god-like beings, and The Prophets have put their faith in Sisko to stop them.

I don't care if it's derivative, I'm in.

They have Beverly on the cover :)

My mind wanders off to the photo-manipulation of her and Troi naked and tied up and being abused by some Ferengi. Methinks they will not have an interesting story-line like that for her in the comic.

:)

Aren't comic books considered to be non-canon?

I really enjoyed DS9... except for that ending. It remember really not liking it. In fact a good portion of that whole last season was a mess, mostly centering around the Pah Wraiths and Bajoran Dukat and the DEAR GOD NO WHY relationship between him and Kai Wynn. The end of the Dominion War was fine though, but everything else was kinda... yeeeah.

But.... they already continued it in some really good novels.  I think I'll pass on this version

I want to know whose hand is underneath the ship (presumably the Enterprise).  Yeah, it looks like a white sleeve in front of white uniformed Crusher, but Crusher's arm continues downward.

I miss that game.  I just didn't have the time to keep playing it right around the time TOS became a playable faction.  Looks like they've done a lot since, too..

Stargazer86: Bajoran Dukat and the DEAR GOD NO WHY relationship between him and Kai Wynn

May she rest in peace.  She was an amazing character actor.  I absolutely loved to hate that character.  Dukat too, of course, but Winn was on another level.

Didn't hate the Wynn/Dukat subplot, but I agree it was overwrought.  Both characters had been recurring villains for pretty much the whole series, so you felt the writers were trying to give an epic finish to their arcs.  But it was much less satisfying watching them play off each other (insert joke here), instead of chewing scenery while facing off against any of the main cast like they usually did.

Comic looks fun, but I'm ok leaving DS9 alone.  Too bad we won't get an audio/video revamp like they did with TNG though.

Love DS9, but not feeling it. Of all the possible follow-ups to that series throwing TNG characters in with Sisko seems lazy. So much else going on in that corner of the galaxy to cover.

Still, can't be any worse than that shiat hypothetical eight season they came up with for "What We Left Behind".

My dream Trek cast would be something like Commandant Sisko with Mirror Universe Georgiou and Garrak to play off each other, The Doctor, Harry Kim, Reno, Saru, Master Chief O'Brian, the core four from Lower Decks and of course Spock, but the young version from SNW.

Harry Kim never really got any limelight and needs to make up for all the times he was in the same shot with Tom Paris. Garrak, Reno and Georgiou could just stand around and play at snark while Spock and the kids from the Cerritos did all the heavy lifting. Sisko could punch any godlike beings that happened to come around and the whole thing would be blessedly free of nostalgia picks from TNG (other han O'Brian, who didn't really have a personality until DS9 anyway). Saru could float between Science and the big chair and I guess he'd trade that off with Georgiou.

Second. If you love DS9 and videogames, it is absolutely worth installing STO just to walk around the station. The update was beautiful.

And it all sucks. Discovery and mirror universe, both concepts that are at the bottom of my Things I Like About Star Trek list. I drifted away shortly after you.

I hear Wesley is coming to STO as an evilirror universe version voiced by Wil. I might check it out for that alone. I think the last voices not to sign up are Picard and Riker.

When I tapped out I ran a Sovereign class beamboat with antimatter phaser arrays, all tricked out to hit max output for MkXV gear. I'm sure the hear has advanced since then and hell, probably ship classes too. STO is why I will never play an MMO RPG again - my rule is 'you have to spend more time improving yourself in the real world each day than you do in a virtual world.'

If anyone wants to try out STO I would love to gift you with riches Croesus couldnt dream of. It will make your sprint to DS9 that much faster and easier. I had a pretty serious problem for a while (and a lifetime membership accruing Zen every month) so...yeah...king shiat of money mountain over here.

Mine was the USS Everyday is Leg Day.  I made everyone on my ship have beefy thighs and wear color-coordinated skants.

The one (and only) friend I played with got mad at me for overly exploiting the progressive future 😅

I was working on a Romulan Ship called the RRW Disco Nosferatu with its captain B'lly Korrigan when I got bored and stopped playing.

One toon has the ship named Jigsaw Jazz and the shuttle is named Jet Fresh Flow. I was listening to a lot of Beck at the time.

Heh, my original character had ships named after variants of Mustangs and tuners thereof.

Had a Klingon whose backstory was rising from family dishonor; his father was relegated to merchantry and cargo hauling for a larger family, specifically surrounding desserts. Well after dear old pop bought it during an Orion pirate raid and son acquitted himself well after, he eventually rose to captain warships for the same family--all named after desserts in Klingon.

Wrote a story about my Romulan science captain being sent to "evaluate" a summer event ship, the Nandi I think, as a thinly veiled excuse for mandatory R&R, "winning" it in an in universe drawing and being totally flustered, because he was caught off guard and thought it was ugly as sin--but the admiral commissioned it in his family name and made him captain it after with barely concealed mirth. Family name was Chironsala, a nod to a TOS novel.  Same captain later got a Krenim science vessel in garish pink and it was called the "pink thingy" in Romulan, so the running joke was he just ended up with all the ships that would totally offend Romulan design sensibilities.

I had some other characters I was working on, but those three were my favorite.

Is it a Deep Space Nine story, though, if they give him a ship to go galavanting around in? Because from the crew, including Data and Crusher, and the new ship, it sounds like the station is at best an occasional touch and go, and that this will be a standard "Enterprise style ship goes to a new place every week" thing.

The Nandi looks like a prostate massager but it is a solid ship. The aforementioned Jigsaw Jazz is a Nandi and it is extremely well appointed.

It's amazing how well the game makes you bond with your crew and ship so that when you login after a while, the music starts up and they are all there for login you feel at home.

Jesus.

The game was more fun when the topless mod was being maintained. I've got a human BOFF dressed in a Orion bikini from an old hack. I can't take her down to social areas without wisking a ban. It also added jiggle physics. The guy who did the mod abandoned it years ago.

Now I'm disappointed that Deep Space Nine didn't resolve any of the unanswered questions from Deep Space One through Deep Space Eight.
