I'm really glad there's no fast food near me.

Absent because dead: Naugles and Pioneer Chicken

Absent because they can't make it in L.A. when they try (and they have tried and tried): Nathan's and White Castle

Dick's would be easiest, but I'd love a Filliberto's this far north.

Having grown up in Chicagoland but now living in the deep south, I'd love to have a Portillo's nearby.  Lots of good food around here, but Italian Beef is notably missing.

The LA Times just did multiple articles about Italian Beef and why it was so hard to find in LA (specifically b/c of the TV show The Bear about a Chicago chef/restaurant). Hard to break in when we've got the French Dip, anyway.

Rumor is the St. Louis area is getting one soonish. Hope it's true.

I am working diligently to land development plans approved for the greatest of all fast food chains out there. I will bring Cracker Barrell here, and the community will sing my praises.

I can't get a decent cheap bowl of pho anywhere around here, so that would be my first choice.

There are quite a few US chains that aren't up here in the hinterlands of Canada.  I wouldn't mind the occasional Jack in the Box and White Castle.

I also wouldn't mind a Harvey's around.  They are a dying chain, but I always liked their burgers.

I don't really eat fast food any more, but I do miss Roy's. Fries and a shake were my go-to snack in college.

Naf Naf Grill (autocorrect thinks I just had a stroke), it's this little Illinois chain that's like a middle Eastern version of Qdoba.

common sense is an oxymoron: Original Tommy's. I haven't had a decent chili burger in ages.

Oh god, that was my comfort food spot when I was a grad student in Los Angeles.  As it stands, we have one (1) fast food restaurant in the tiny, tiny AK town I live in, so I don't eat fast food anymore, and it doesn't even sound particularly good.

Agreed.  I'd love a Portillo's, but most cities seem to have several Chicago style places.  I can think of several where I can get Italian Beef.

We had an Aurelio's until the pandemic.  It was always a tough sell.  Southerners can't understand why anyone would pay more than $8 for a pizza.

The Geno's East didn't even last 6 months.  We've only got 2 Rosati's left.

The nearest White Castle is 45+ minutes north of me. Nearest Waffle House is 65 miles south in MD. Need both in South Jersey . Waffle House for the crazy shiat after the bars close. The frozen WC cheeseburgers aren't the same as fresh.

Wendy's with a Superbar.

But if that's not possible, then I'd ruther go to Druther's.

I think that was the closest to me growing up, so I never had White Castle.

/Another vote for Mr Delicious. We definitely didn't have Rax in NY, but that stupid ad cartoon is priceless.

Not a chain, but I want an old defunct local place back. Joe's OK Bayou Cajun Food. Fried seafood plate with jumbalaya rice. Shrimp, crawdad, gator tail. So good. Had a fast food place in Henderson KY, then moved to Newburgh, Indiana downtown and became more casual place and died out.

If going for chain place I want a Quiznos back. Better than subway by miles. I want hot toasted sub damn it. Haven't seen one in 10+ years.

Pioneer Chicken. There are two left in Southeast LA and that's it. There are at least three places near me that took over one of their locations and kept the shape of the signs intact. I take psychic damage every time I pass one.

We've finally started getting Portillo's in the greater Detroit area. We've had one about 90 minutes from me for two years now, and they have been promising one about 30 minutes away by the end of the year. I haven't seen signs that they've even broken ground for the new one, though.

30 minutes away is about as close as I think is a good idea for me.

People either love or hate Arby's.   I personally love most of what's there. All of their locations within 45 min are gone from my area.  I have one, on the way to a relative, I hit up a few times a year.

No way--I'm right there with you.  Nearest Waffle House is 2 hours away.  Luckily, it's 20 minutes from my D&D game so, if not enough players show up, we head there.  Waffle House is always the best dinner & a show anywhere in town.

There are a few in Florida. If you don't want to make the drive you can always have it shipped. My friends in Georgia did it and they said it arrived in 2 days and was just fine.
