Keep showing people that laws are just paper and don't matter anymore, eventually everyone will take the hint and just start punching back without any restrictions.

GardenWeasel: Civil service protections

This.

Civil service protections are important, especially for OIG.

Breaking norms like this makes sense only if you don't plan on losing any future elections.

why is DeJoy still running the usps ?

The US is currently suffering a critical shortage of 2x4s and hemp rope, that's the underlying issue as best I can determine.

Because like the person who appointed him he is a crooked piece of human garbage? It is a shame that when the Biden team hit the WH in Jan 2020 they didn't have a long list of these rat-fark appointed trump goons to begin firing that very day. I wouldn't have left a trump nominee in place in any position even as head toilet cleaner

Botkin of the Yard: Biden

Weird no one mentioned Biden until you. If it does happen to be a blame biden-fest I am sure you will say 'see, i knew it!' instead of saying 'gee, look what I started'

Though, TBH, Biden should have fired him.

Because Republicans have such a strong recent history of respecting norms as long as Democrats do.

I think in the before times, competent people were selected that had integrity for the role they were appointed to.

Postmasters should take great pride in how the USPS operates, regardless of who is in the WH.

These are not those times.

Now, what about those with "acting" titles?  Those should be gone with a quickness.

Norms are what kept the Trump admin from doing even more damage for 3 of their 4 years. People already forget the crap they attempted.

I really, really want to know why Biden didn't eject every single one of them that he could on day one. Why wouldn't he?

We're not supposed to BSAB, but uh, why isn't the Biden administration doing the things they are allowed to do? Why aren't they exercising every power they are known to have? Why would you tolerate Republicans in positions of federal power if you didn't have to? This is by choice, and it stinks to high heaven.

Well, if you have the reads available, this answered most of my questions:

Guy says what I said, even if the phones were wiped, there should still be copies of the text messages in backups. Since there isn't, it seems it was done on purpose.

But by the time Biden was elected we all KNEW what Trump and his nominees were. It's not as if anyone was surprised when his appointees turned out to be utter sh*t.

The texts were deleted after Biden took office.  The Secret Service was covering for Kamala Harris while she planted pipe bombs at the Republican and Democratic Headquarters.

The Republicans would do it.  The Democrats wouldn't.  The Democrats think voters will figure out that this makes them the better party and will vote for them out of decency.

An unfortunate side effect of believing in the rule of law and following process and procedure.  It's slow, bureaucratic and there's a lot of paperwork involved.
