The Vikings have a cupcake schedule this year. I half expected them to start 0-3 with little impact on their playoff chances.

Raiders plunge down to 30... better beat Denver somehow or its on to 32!

All I want is a player to score from 30 yards out to keep Carr out of the Red Zone!

Pulling an Orlovsky, though...

It has been a weird start to the season, but I think it can still go weirder. I'm hoping they try to play in Tampa on Sunday night, just so we can learn how quickly a fully saturated field can be reduced to mush.

There's no way that game is happening anywhere within the state of Florida on Sunday night. That's going to be somewhere else (most likely Minnesota from what's been said, with the Vikings playing in London that morning)

Miami? I'm still skeptical.

Saints are too damned high.  They need to get their shiat together.

You know, you have to be pretty bad off to be ranked lower than the Pats right now. I mean, Mac is going on the IR. He's gonna need surgery, and I can't imagine he'll be back this season.

OK but the Texans still exist. I know it's easy to forget sometimes.

I found it extremely annoying the way Daniel Jones kept completing passes last night. Also, did he end up having more rushing yards than his RB's? I would officially classify him as "not a bad QB." And Saquon.... whew. That dude is something else. Wait! What am I doing? I'm a Cowboys fan! YOU WERE RIGHT, DOG VOMIT BOOOOO

Ethertap: It has been a weird start to the season, but I think it can still go weirder.

I don't know about you, but I saw an ad for TNF & actually got excited about watching the Bengals & the Dolphins. Yeah. Those Dolphins. What year is it?

The Browns are right around where they should be, maybe a little high.   They have the easiest schedule yet and still managed to Brown one away to the Jets.   Brissett has yet to be tested against a real team.   Chubb and the rest are still as good as usual.   Special teams are ... not good.

I wanna see the Iggles do really well this year but I'm not all that confident that they won't lose one or both of the next two games. If the team can keep from listening to everyone blowing sunshine up their asses they may manage to play well but the Jacksonville game has trap written all over it.

If nothing else, I'd take the Jags and the points.

Daniel's been...ok, which is a lot better than the last two years.  Then again, our OL is also not bad just needs the reps.

What do they always say about ACL injuries?  It's not year one, it's year two when they get back to close to 100%.  That's where Saquon is right now: year two and he's back to being a dynamic threat.

Wish we had a WR that could take the top off a D right now.

AND NOW for a presentation of a graf representing useless information, followed by statistics about that useless information. Truly, we live a charmed life.

Fark user imageView Full Size

As a reminder, dotted lines began the season in the bottom half of the rankings. So when you see a dotted line at the top or a solid line towards the bottom of the graf, you know.... they really farked up.

Weird little nuggets about seemingly arbitrary rankings:

Change from Week 1 to this week:
One 17-point drop: Raiders
One 18-point jump: Dolphins

Three teams are WHO WE THOUGHT THEY WERE! The Chiefs, Broncos, & Panthers are back at their Week 1 Ranking. AND WE LET 'EM OFF THE HOOK!

Change from last week to this week:
Two 9-point drops: Chargers & Saints
One 11-point jump: Jaguars

3 teams did not change rankings: Commanders, Seahawks, & Packers

Number of times rankings have changed:
1 team has changed once4: Bills
26 teams have changed every week

Difference between high rank & low rank:
Lowest fluctuation: Bills with 1
Highest fluctuation: Dolphins with 18
Average fluctuation is 7.5

Most spots traveled (largest overall fluctuation):Cowboys with 26

Teams hiatting their highest rank this week: 10 teams
Teams hiatting their lowest rank this week: 13 teams

TWO teams have held the #1 spot: Bills & Dolphins, who saw that coming

2022-09-27 1:47:11 PM
Miami at #1 is an overreaction.

Joe Flacco is the "The most elite™" Jake. With a whopping 15 QBR and 54% completion rate, he's lucky it wasn't lower. The real question is, how many Jake's will Flacco get with the Jets this year? Could he set a record? Maybe, if Wilson stays out. Facing the Steelers and the Dolphins in the next few weeks, we may see a rare back to back win.

I agree, I expect Dougie's team to take it to the wire and possibly win it.

How great is it to see what Jalen Hurts is doing? Since he got to Philly, it's been "not good enough, not accurate enough, not an NFL starting QB," etc. Guy shrugs it off, works his ass off, and is straight balling right now. Hope he can keep it rolling.

No. You're right. They're too damn high at 22.

The Chiefs-Colts game was just painful to watch. Chiefs could have won the game despite the special team unit f*cking up in so many stupid ways. But the offense and defense decided to join in with the special team unit's bungling.

The offense couldn't convert on 3rd down enough to extend drives and they couldn't score TDs in the red zone. And the defense, which had played really well, decided to slack off on the Colts' final drive and Jones getting that stupid penalty killed them.

And the play calling and play design was stupid. The fake punt was a bad idea. The 1 RB and 2 WR/TE combo doesn't work if you don't establish the running game AND your TE/WR routes end up in the same area. You need separation. And fix the special team problems. Find a reliable return man and find a reliable FG/XP kicker. NFL kickers shouldn't be missing a 30 yard FG or an extra point.

Pinnacle Point: The Vikings have a cupcake schedule this year. I half expected them to start 0-3 with little impact on their playoff chances.

These wins were pivotal IMO to allow us to attempt to back into the playoffs.

Week 4: 10/2 at Saints (Tottenham), 9:30 PM, NFL Network - Win 4-0
Week 5: 10/9 vs. Bears, 1 PM, Fox  Win 5-0
Week 6: 10/16 at Dolphins, 1 PM, Fox  Loss 5-1
Week 7: BYE Los.....ok, just kidding.
Week 8: 10/30 vs. Cardinals, 1 PM, Fox Loss 5-2
Week 9: 11/6 at Commanders, 1 PM, Fox Win 6-2
Week 10: 11/13 at Bills, 1 PM, Fox Loss 6-3
Week 11: 11/20 vs. Cowboys, 4:25 PM, CBS Loss 6-4
Week 12: 11/24 vs. Patriots (Thanksgiving), 8:20 PM, NBC Win 7-4
Week 13:12/4 vs. Jets, 1 PM, CBS Win 8-4
Week 14: 12/11 at Lions, 1 PM, Fox Loss 8-5
Week 15: 12/17 or 12/18 vs. Colt, TBD, TBD Win 9-5
Week 16: 12/24 vs. Giants (Saturday), 1 PM, Fox Win 10-5
Week 17: 1/1 at Packers, 4:25, CBS Loss 10-6
Week 18: 1/7 or 1/8 at Bears, TBD, TBD Loss 10-7

And yeah, we do NOT belong in the top 10. lol

I can't believe the Lions let the Viqueens win that game. What a freakin' choke job.

If Brady had even 1 of his best WRs in play, my Packers would've lost.

How the Bungles, at 1-2, are ranked above a few 2-1 teams is a mystery.

My biggest consolation is that Davante Adams has never been on a 0-3 team. How's that tasting there, dude?

Finally...this just may be the most mediocre year in recent memory. I guess the Eagles are playing well...but boy oh boy, talk about some teams looking like utter dogshiat.

Its...beautiful

I know that power rankings are meaningless. And I know it's only week 3. But I've been a fan for over 30 years and this is the first time I've ever seen the Dolphins #1 in this ranking, and I'm not gonna lie, I teared up a little just now.

Lions are scoring a lot of points, they've got the defense of a JV team.  Still lacking talent in a lot of areas. I like Aaron Glenn as a person, especially after seeing Hard Knocks and his banter with Duce Staley, but he is lacking some decision making skills. Keeping Oruwariye out there after his 2nd IC/PI call was just stoopid. ESPN is just about correct with their rank there.

Yup. You gotta enjoy it when your team is good. Let's face it. Most of us don't get to see our teams win championships most years. Anyone who tells you it's too early to celebrate just hates fun. If you're at the top of the chart, party time.

It's going to be a helluva next couple weeks for the 'Phins, just to see if they can match the hype that this list gives them at the moment.  If they can stay healthy and keep focused, I can only hope there is something to their current ranking.
