So the Russians running their subs on natural gas has just one flaws.  No filling stations where they need them, and local customs back in Kazakstan of tapping the line are a bummer.  Just too many narcs, man.

If the pipelines had holes drilled in to them underwater somehow... I don't think that'd be the Russians. The Russians control the pipeline! They can just shut it off, and have done that at least once already.

That said, their decision making skills have been proven lately to be............. shiat. So who knows? They could also be stupid enough, but I'll keep an open mind.

I dunno.

The German intelligence agencies are possibly a bit concerned at how effective the Russian propaganda is on the right wing idiots in Germany, who had been calling for an of supplying weapons to Ukraine and for both nordstream pipelines to be operated at full supply.

With the nord stream pipelines asploded, the gas lines through Ukraine will need to carry more....which means bringing the war to an end sooner, by supplying more weapons to Ukraine and putting more pressure on Russia is a better strategy than leaving the Russian invasion to grind on for years.

Nord Stream 2 was never put to use, and Nord Stream 1 has been closed "for maintenance" since August. The gas escaping now was just there to maintain pressure.

It'd probably be a good idea (though maybe a bit late) to set fire to that. CO2 is less green-house-gassy than methane is.

Plus it would look cool.

It's pretty windy on the Baltic, the gas is going to disperse quickly, so I doubt there's an actual cloud.

I don't think the US would do it. The US government has been pretty hands off with what could be viewed as a direct attack against Russia. For an underwater pipeline, I would be more suspicious of Russia, since it would take a bit of somewhat advanced tech to get there to do the damage.
Of course, just dragging an anchor would probably do the trick, but I would think that would have been easily traced back to the offending ship.

Dansker: No, all the Nord Stream pipes have been closed since August, so this doesn't make much difference.

That was blackmail by Russia. "While the war goes on, the pipeline stayed closed, so stop supplying weapons to Ukraine."

As the pipelines are now blown up (allegedly in multiple places), it removes the 'carrot' from the Russian negotiating position.

Telling people to avoid the cloud of flammable gas is why they've announced the navigation hazard...

Yeah, but I don't think anyone really expected the pipes the be reopened until the war is over anyway, so again, it doesn't make a difference now.
Meanwhile, the Baltic Pipe, connecting Poland via Denmark with Norwegian gas fields was inaugurated today. Coincidence?!
Well, probably, yeah, unless you suspect the Norwegians of sabotaging Nord Stream. But guilty or not, they may be able to pick up some of the slack in gas deliveries, instead of increasing the volume through Ukraine from Russia.

The pipeline wouldn't be reopened until the war was over or Germany caved to Russia because the winter got to be too much. Now, Germany may no longer have that option.

I wonder how much the gas reduces the water's bouyancy. Maybe the Zeke problem would solve itself. Or maybe he'll try to light the ocean farts on fire, in which case we all get what we want.

If they had the capability, I would say china. Don't think they do though. They will be left as one of the only buyers of Russian gas and get to dictate the prices. The more that Russia screws itself over the more Russian assets and resources they can pick up at a discount. Plus they just want the war to stop given the damage it is doing economically.

Two explosions were registered in the area last night by seismic stations in both Sweden and Denmark, according to Swedish TV: https://www.svt.se/nyheter/inrikes/svt-avslojar-tva-explosioner-intill-nord-stream

And the Danish Prime Minister has informed all the leaders of the other parties in the Danish Parliament about something regarding this, but nobody wants to say what they've told.

They weren't selling any gas and they desperately need an excuse for their actions in the mobilization.

They did it themselves, and they're going to use it to say that all of NATO is attacking Russia.

The VPNs keep switching IPs, so Netflix can't reliable do that.

Anyways, that's not the selling point of VPNs. I think everyone knows why people use them.
