Dansker: mongbiohazard: kindms: russians committing eco-terrorism ? not like they would shell nuclear power plants or something

If the pipelines had holes drilled in to them underwater somehow... I don't think that'd be the Russians. The Russians control the pipeline! They can just shut it off, and have done that at least once already.

Nord Stream 2 was never put to use, and Nord Stream 1 has been closed "for maintenance" since August. The gas escaping now was just there to maintain pressure.

Yeah, just saying the Russians control their end of the pipeline - they don't need to drill holes in it to fark it up. They can just unplug it. So for them to make the effort of sabotaging a pipeline they control anyway doesn't make a lot of sense to me.

For what it's worth, Ukraine is openly accusing Russia: https://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-63044747

They only conceivable way it would make sense for them to do it would be if they want to point to 'sabotage damage' and try to blame it on someone else, maybe to justify an attack.

But that still seems like an awful reach.

It's not inconceivable that Putin thinks stuff like this can scare European populations into protesting their own governments' support of Ukraine.

Yeah, I agree, that's why I said in my OP:
That said, their decision making skills have been proven lately to be............. shiat. So who knows? They could also be stupid enough, but I'll keep an open mind.

They're just so glaringly incompetent that even though it would be really stupid, and make no damn sense, that it's not safe to actually rule them out.

Seriously... it's literally this guys MO. That's what he does. Stages shiat to create fear. It got him in power, it's kept him in power, why not do dumb shiat like that during his war to fire up his people?

Its harmless methan gas.

[Fark user image 604x453]

Its spelled methane.

But other than that, yeah, its harmless.

Not flammable or a potent greenhouse gas? Are you aware of what happens to the buoyancy of ships that sail in water with a gas bubbling up through it?

jumac: vlakorados: MattytheMouse: This Fark thread is brought to you by Nord VPN. They should've used Nord VPN to prevent these leaks!

I hear Netflix is starting to make people turn off their VPN in order to watch anything. You know, that whole "watch other countries' streaming services" thing that the VPN companies keep using as a major selling point? Netflix ain't having it anymore.

/off topic
//womp womp

netflix still doing that?  i though they just limited what you can see based on your address on file.

I don't know, I don't have Netflix or a VPN. It was just something I saw on Twitter.
