"f(((ing" ?  Is it a British-ism to substitute parentheses for letters when censoring part of a word? Never seen anything besides star/asterisk, dash, or underscores.

1. We begin with our new leader, Margarine Thatcher, who in only 3 weeks has become PM, finished off The Queen, taken 2 weeks away from work, ruined our relations with the US, crashed the economy, and started backbench rebellion to remove her from office

So she's a go-getter then?

/Hit the ground ruining.

The right parenthesis is next to the asterisk. Subby was clearly typing under stress, possibly while being chased by a Tory (whatever the hell that is).

I absolutely love when a Brit takes a dump on the Tories. They are sooo asking for it.
They're actually awful for the UK.

Come on:
David Cameron
Teresa May
BoJo the Clown
"Liz" Truss
Really???

Brexit???
Really???

Wow, that's simply incredible. Truss has done an amazing job so far (of destroying any hope for the Tories' success in the near future).
I would just have to think, though, calling for a general election would have to be better than letting this clown show continue.

As farked up as the US is we've

Cut child poverty in half recently
Have a strengthening currency
Just hit an asteroid 7 million miles away with a rocket
Have low unemployment

Just launched an amazing space telescope

Are investing in semi-conductor manufacturing
Are investing in infrastructure
Are investing in green energy

That was one of my favorites, as was:

Meanwhile new Home Secretary Suella Braverman aimed for "New Priti Patel" but landed on "Secret Squirrel struggles with International Law for Dummies"

I'm an American and over the last few years, I have gained an understanding of British politics.  Priti Patel struck me as someone akin to McConnell, doing evil for its own sake by managing to convince enough people it was necessary for some abstract good that wasn't even "to own the LibDems".  Her successor seems to lack political IQ.

And having howled madly against immigration for years, the govt signalled it plans to allow loads more immigrants

This was the whole selling point for Brexit in the first place, to not allow in more immigrants!  I honestly hope Nigel Farage is having a coronary over this after all he did to sell Brexit as being the best thing the country could do.

Simon Clarke, a mouse-fart made flesh and shoved into a beige suit, explained the reason the Tories had been complete dogshiat for 12 years is that they "haven't had a clear run" and it had been "crisis after crisis"

Well, golly gee, we're so sorry this timeline hasn't spoon-fed you a historical void that would allow you to sleep through your administration and then cheer your inaction. Actually having to do your damned jobs is such a bore, isn't it?

Seriously, this is at or near Trumpian levels of disingenuous. Cause endless interconnected crises that nobody in your party can manage and then blame those crises for your inability to solve them. He's just one "And the press is so MEAN to us!" away from being President of the United States.

London Tube joke...

Also there are rumours flying that letters of no confidence in truss are already being sent to the chairman of the Tory 1922 Committee (the first step in the process to get rid of the party leader). I'll give truss 3 months in the job, max.

Lol, from Krugman's newsletter today:
"So why the sudden run on the pound? One answer I liked came from the City of London economist Dario Perkins, who declared that the problem with the budget wasn't that it was inflationary but that it was "moronic," and that an economy run by morons has to pay a risk premium."

Why are Brexit supporters so obsessed with a free trade agreement with the U.S.? Yes, we're already their biggest customer, but if we eliminate trade barriers, our manufacturing will destroy the UK's by undercutting everything. And lord knows, they don't want our chlorinated chicken.

Either the Tories have begun believing their own press releases or they're just distracting from their other problems.

This strikes me as a huge distraction from the other issues plaguing Truss's administration, but it is certainly showing how bad of an idea Brexit really was, especially with the politicians wanting to pass the buck to the people instead of voting on it themselves in an overt display of racism by the Tories.
