Sounds like another guilty party trying to weasel out of paying the piper.

Apparently he told Trump to go pound sand when Trump asked him to steal the 2020 election. Now he's afraid to testify against him about that conversation.

Because he knows it's the party of fascists now. And he knows what fascists do when they eventually seize power.

Vos is challenging the House committee's authority in court and arguing the subpoena "seeks to infringe on Speaker Vos' legislative immunity" from lawsuits.

Curious how the "If you have nothing to hide, then you have nothing to fear" crowd suddenly is all about civil liberties when they're the ones being questioned.

It's like they fear they'll be murdered for refusing to commit a crime.

This would all be cleared up if don just called Liz Cheney and scheduled a day to testify.

Testify, don.

Just testify...

In no way does this send a message that he has something to hide.

Now that we know the Trump White House was coordinating with on-site assets in the crowd I'd like to know the efforts of republicans on the other side of the siege who were also coordinating with them.

Legislative immunity?

REVOKED!

Wasn't this defense already tried and failed? Republicans sure are behaving as if they're all guilty.

I want you all to think back to when Hillary was asked to come testify for 11 hours. What would have happened if she just didn't show up? Or sued to not have to honor the subpoena? I want you to really think about what fox news would have run those nights, and every night after. She would have been labeled a felon. A criminal. Maybe a terrorist or even a spy working for China. She would have been crucified. There would have been candidates for elections staging pilgrimages to her house to protest, probably armed and taking about how if they were in charge she wouldn't even get the courtesy of a trial, while they shot cardboard cutouts of her on television. Tucker would have a breaking news show every night outside her house. "Hillary watch, day 3" "why hasn't she been arrested yet?" "Should Hillary get the electric chair or a firing squad?"
You know this would be how it went. So my question is why is everyone collectively ignoring this as if this is just how things work?

The way to be sure they don't seize power is to testify. Maybe he needs to rethink his position.

As to the committee's authority, yeah that's already been established and a judge should cut that bit from the suit.  About legislative immunity: he's supposed to go to the hearing, get asked, then claim immunity.  Then it goes to court.  He just doesn't want to be publicly asked questions about activity that's plainly NOT covered by legislative immunity.  So a judge should say "fark off, you have nothing to claim immunity about until you're asked a question, come back then."

The judge should kick this suit in about 30 seconds.

A weekend subpoena with 2 days notice to appear the following Monday? Sounds like a ... umph, what's that term everybody's using these days?  ... oh yeah, "stunt".

When you're subpoenaed under similar circumstances, you should use that word and see how it goes for you.

I mean, it is not so much curious as it is obvious and tiresome. The law serves to protect but not bind the rich white in group. The law serves to bind but not protect everyone else. Exhibit 4,652,671. At least.

State legislature's legislative immunity in state court, meet federal supremacy.

It's part stunt, partly that he BARELY survived his primary by 200 votes among almost 10,000 votes in his district and now the guy who he beat is trying to drum up support for a write in campaign.  The last thing Vos needs is that guy getting any more material to us against him.
