Were they listening to our rock and roll whole conducting missile drills?

"While the formation has operated in accordance with international rules and norms, we will meet presence with presence to ensure there are no disruptions to U.S. interests in the maritime environment around Alaska," Rear Adm. Nathan Moore, Seventeenth Coast Guard District commander said.

Yet, the fear-mongering. Leaders in the government, press, and military in China, Russia, and the United States will not by happy until they have triggered WW III. Vindictive as it is, I hope that those who provoke the war pay first and pay most heavily. Whether the instigators be Chinese, Russian, or American; may their blood be spilled rather than the blood of a farmer's son, or a coal miner's child, or the kid of a construction worker.

Do you know where Kiska is, dumbassmitter?

Its equally alarming there was a US Coast Guard cutter that close to Russia. Another mile west and the crew could have been conscripted to fight in Ukraine.

"China has declared itself a "near Arctic" state and plans to build the world's largest icebreaker, he said."

Can't let all those fishing & drilling rights get wasted on non-Han peoples.

And how many US attack subs were behind those Chinese and Russian ships?  The answer is probably not zero.  The ocean is big, but we'd be idiots to not have eyes on all their warships.  We've got the satellites and they're surface ships.

It was there to play "We're giving you an official according to the law chance to not get yourselves disintegrated and start a World War.  So... your call."  A coastie cutter is not confrontational, certainly not when faced with that much tonnage, and no one could creditably claim their feared they'd be destroyed if they didn't fire first.  Whoever sent that out was a smart cookie.  Whoever manned the cutter has balls that drag the ground, regardless of sex or gender

It's east of where the Japanese invaded the United States of America during the Second World War.

No doubt this will also be among the first locations for the Russians and Chinese to invade when (not if) they simultaneously invade Taiwan. It will likely be the first battle on America soil of WWIII, which their goal of island hopping to mainland Alaska and the eventual conquest of the entire United States of America mainland.

The United States Coast Guard cutter has every right to be there and should be there.

If they were using their radios, they were tracked.  This was what was being done in the 70s...it would be silly not to think the systems have evolved since then.

Hey, the Coast Guard cutter was there as a politeness to let them know that they got spotted. It was a courtesy to let them know that we knew where they were. Takes a lot of the guesswork out of things when everyone is on the same page.

Depending on the types of Russian ships, a Coast Guard Cutter could handle them on its own. They are surprisingly well armed and armored.

Wake up van Winkle, it's 2022, not 1942. Nobody would invade the Aleutians except to knock out military bases, there's no need for island hopping to get to the U.S. mainland.

This is just a tit for tat demonstration from the two dictators.
No doubt photos of the cutter are circulating in Chinese state propaganda.

The despised Coasties are the only branch of the Service which regularly puts its asses on the line to directly protect the United States. And they do it with a lot less money than the others. Suck it Army, Air Force, Space Force, Navy, and most of all Marines.
