Gas prices. Chicago gangs. Poisoned Tylenol. NY garbage strikes.

A lot more to pick on than the hair the clothes or the music.

Although disco was an abomination before god.

I am old, and was a teenager for much of the 1970s, so I remember all of these things well.  Most of these were temporary, but disco was eternal. Don't underestimate what an abomination on the world it was.

We're talking about U.S. music, right?  Because music in the U.K. was getting quite good during that time.

Just for information. 90%+ of Americans by age 50 have been exposed to or have herpes.

I had a pair of corduroy bell bottom pants in that era.  I am surprised I didn't start multiple fires the only time I wore them.  You could also hear me coming from a mile away.

Don't pretend you don't know that sound.

I was going to say disco but I remembered clearly watching the area I love in die as soon as the Reagan administration took power.  My dad and 30,000 other steel workers, boilermakers, and laborers were out of work and their pensions seized when companies were allowed to use pension money to satisfy debt:  it was absolutely horrible seeing people wirh 28 years of seniority working at KFC or worse selling Amway.  Disco was awful but there was much worse on the horizon.

I was precocious and parents had interesting and useful parent friends (got free tickets and passes for a bunch of places). Went to my first opening day at Wrigley at 10 and had friends with me and it was perfectly normal.

We must be very close in age.

As a rocker I hated disco. But listening again, gooddisco is good. But there was a lot of bad disco.

Just watched Dahmer pick up a hippie hitchhiker just as he was jonesing for some sex, all to the mellow cool of "Stumblin in" 1978 Norman and Quatro. It was a very well done show ender. Great camera work, it should win an award.
