it's nice to see Fidel Castro referred to as some other guy's brother and know that time claims us all, and erodes us all, the good and even eventually the bad alike. looking at you, Putin (*dropdead*)
super happy for LGBTQ+, and everyone else whose path is a little less shiat-strewn because of this :)

I respect consistency.  Companies, cops, and the local & national government is too inconsistent.  It be interesting to see the cops kill all unarmed suspects for a change.  Would that make the public pull their heads from their butts?  Or when they cut budgets, how about it effect rich people too?

The Administration of Mordor openly supports inter species marriage, has strong workplace conflict resolution processes, allows all residents to embrace non-traditional religious practices such as necromancy, and has strong environmental policies of supporting endangered species through an program in which orcs were fed to Shelob, "the last child of Ungoliant to trouble an unhappy world."

Around 10% of Cubans are protestants. How many are evangelical, I can't find.

With the amount of US influence over the island for decades having a significant Protestant population shouldn't be too surprising.

In addition, after the Revolution, Protestants were politically favoured over Catholics as Castro viewed the Catholic Church as more politically active and unified and therefore a threat.

Then when access to Cuba increased, evangelical "missionaries" were almost certainly among the first to find their way into the country.

I'm pretty down on Mississippi, but it's going to have to try a lot harder to be Mordor.  It's more like Angband, maybe?

I'm pretty sure Russia tries harder.  Nuclear war threats, a psychotic leader driving an invasion, and leaving a trail of mass graves and war crimes?

Mississippi is barely even trying, by contrast.

Maybe, but, I have to pay 20 dollars for a monthly bus pass. But, occasionally the bus let's random poors ride for free. And randomly the bus has free days.
I don't mind the free riders or the free days. I hate that you can't depend on that.
Thus I'm not paying to ride. I'm paying to not be at the mercy of free rides and random free days.

At Least in Mississippi, they are allowed to have more than a single candidate run for each office. In Cuba, you can either vote for the communist party nominee, or against. That's all you get.

Why do you think the Cubans are fleeing to the US, instead of the other way around?

Saudi Arabia abolished slavery in 1962.

Mississippi abolished slavery in 2003, when they finally certified their 1995 ratification of the 13th Amendment to the United States constitution.

Even that didn't fully abolish slavery, as the 13th amendment has explicit carveouts allowing slavery as long as there's been a court proceeding first. Saudi Arabia doesn't do that. (They do execute way more people than we do these days, but there's zero legally sanctioned slavery there).

Because Cuba used to be a colony of the US, and we've never forgiven them for overthrowing our puppet government and kicking out all the rich assholes who went there to raise hell and do things that were illegal on the mainland.

Because Castro took the stuff that rich Americans (such as leaders of the Mafia) gained via corruption, at the expense of the Cuban people, from the regimes that proceeded his.

So it's no longer because of the votes gained in Florida that can tip US elections?

Or the failed revolution, or the friendly Russian nuke attempt, or the zabruder film that shows the tiny Cuban flags on the bullets?

I bet all of that was a hoax, anyway.
