Sunflowers are known to clean up soil, so why not a bit of "sin" as well?

2022-09-26 11:06:28 AM
Sure, make it a religious war, that always ends well.

2022-09-26 11:11:27 AM
Considering the massacre that happened yesterday, the place is going to be full quickly.

Kirill was apparently a former KGB guy1 and his personal wealth is estimated to be somewhere between $4-$8 billion2.

Making shiat up as they go along for 2000+ years

Will still spend the last moments of their life asking God why they are dying over mud and why their body armor was filled with egg cartons.

All branches of the Russian Orthodox church here in the United States should be declared a hostile entity, it's clergy investigated for espionage and their communication monitored.
They are now a potential terrorist threat

2022-09-26 12:52:50 PM
That's not right.

2022-09-26 12:52:55 PM
And if that was true, he'd already be off getting shot to death for his free Get Out Of Hell card.

2022-09-26 12:52:57 PM
I guess that's one way of saying "You're about to die!"

2022-09-26 12:53:26 PM
Cleansed of sin, maybe, but still dead.  I like not being dead.

2022-09-26 12:54:10 PM

Hinged: That's not right.

It's exactly what is expected from a "church" that's little more than a propaganda front for Putin and his thugs.

2022-09-26 12:55:22 PM
But does it cleanse them of the sins of torturing and raping innocents and dumping them into mass graves? Curious (sickened) minds want to know.

Maybe we can round them up into camps just to keep an eye on them. Plenty of room out west, and hey, we can take their property as a sort of bonus.

2022-09-26 12:55:32 PM
I hear they're low on soldiers, send the Preacher man, let him be free of sin.

2022-09-26 12:56:36 PM
People still look to religion do they?

/bless their hearts

Thats not how it works. Thats not how any of this works.

So, rooskie christians are the same as those in the US. Shocker.

Religion is such a great scam of you're powerful and looking to take advantage of those less fortunate.

Sure, this is going to suck for you. But think about the afterlife! Oh, what fun you'll have then. So go shoot some people while you get shot at. K, thanks, bye.

2022-09-26 12:59:34 PM
Oh so god specifically shared that new sin cleansing loophole only with you, just now, right before the conscription? Wow must be true! What amazing timing of messaging on gods part!

See, Christians, God WANTS you to die. Stop defying his commands.

Now, promise them a big feast and 72 virgins!

For the Russian church this has always been a holy war

Everything you need to know about the unholy alliance of religion and government.

There are many things that could bring this war to a quick and merciful solution.

Religion isn't anywhere near that list.

If I were the Russians and I wanted a back channel into the United States, a cover as Russian Orthodox clergy would be an excellent way to avoid being spotted as a spy.

Close.
In America, the clergy own the GOP. In Russia tho, Putin owns the clergy. The Russian Orthodox church is effectively a branch of their government.

Or, given the demographics they'd be in, welcomed with open arms as a spy.

2022-09-26 1:06:53 PM
The important thing is they are dead Russians.

2022-09-26 1:07:19 PM
That's actually just a typo.  It was supposed to be "skin".  The artillery will clear away all the skin from the rest of the flying body parts.

Ragin' Asian: "Those who join the Crusade to take the Holy Land from the Muslim will be absolved of sin!"

That didn't work out well for them either.

What better illustration of how the Christian church is full of shiat? Thanks asshole bishop dude.

Well, you can't say for certain that it didn't.

So now we're back to religious indulgences?  I'm surprised soldiers don't have to pay for the privilege of going to heaven when they die in Ukraine.

Back in March, the formerly Russian Orthodox congregation in Amsterdam requested (and eventually got) a transfer away from the Moscow Patriarchate to the rival Constantinople one:

The Russian Orthodox church is a subsidiarity of the Russian government and is not an independent entity.
Oh they pretend they're different while they think anyone is watching but that organization isn't remotely independent or spiritual. It's nothing more than a rubber stamp for anything immoral or unethical Putin wants to do.

Pretty much the only thing American conservatives didn't like about communism was the atheism.  Putin got rid of that, and the love affair started.

Usually you see a church putting pressure in the government to accomplish the church goals and using the poeple in power as tools for it. But strangely here we have the opposite, a church blatantly promoting and aiding the government goals even if (in theory) goes against their own religious principles, like if they were an extension of the government itself.

Maybe, but they are considered at least officially as part of the orthodox Christian faith by other orthodox Churches (Greek, Coptic, Assyrian, Antioch, Byzantine) that are not controlled by Putin or Russian. Until this recent war, the Pope was pretty deep into ecumenical dialogue with the Russian Orthodox. The church is 500 years old - it's not something dreamt up a few years ago by the propaganda wing of the Kremlin. And here they are saying that dying in a war Russia started against fellow Christians is a free ticket to heaven. It's gross bullshiat.

THIS is why there needs to be a separation of Church and State!
