I'm glad the would-be Nazi running for governor here in PA is still screaming he can't wait to sign a six-week ban and how a woman's body belongs to the fatherland to produce more Christian Nationalists.

He promised a giant rally on the state capitol steps yesterday, and there were more reporters than supporters -- including a crew from The Daily Show.

Why stop at a six-week ban?  Does he think that's some sort of compromise that will sway independents?  These candidates have no balls.  Pro-choice voters won't fall for it.  Pro-female death candidates will think it doesn't go far enough.
Just call for a complete ban and see how voters choose.

When gay marriage was legalized, there were massive parades and celebrations at Pride that year.

Go on chucklefarks, have a parade. Go on, celebrate the repeal of Roe out in the streets with costumes, banners and a marching band.

Do it.

I'm tired of even bleating out my feelings about this. But I'm also tired of the near elation that some of those on the left express about how overturning roe helps the midterms.

I ask that everyone shut up for half a second and think about the woman who just miscarried and is suddenly terrified that she could face legal consequences. About the woman who is miscarrying and who can't get medical assistance to fully complete the miscarriage. About the woman who can't abort a fetus that has no survivability. About the girl who can't get an abortion, even though the rape and childbirth will certainly cause her physical harm. About the woman who can't get a prescription filled for management of her illness because it could be used to facilitate an abortion. About the woman who can't get medication prescribed that would make a medical procedure less painful because it could be used to facilitate an abortion. And about the woman who knows with certainty that she never wants to be a mother who must now carry to term even though the US has incredibly poor postpartum medical care (She may give up for adoption - a not good outcome for many children - but the likeliness of her body being irreparably changed is higher without postpartum care).

Women, girls, anyone who can give birth are not political chess pieces for either side. I hope that becomes incredibly clear in the midterms, in that it's not just about this vote. It's about true and permanent representation. I will remain furious until women who believe in the power and autonomy of all women are the people leading me. And quite honestly, there is not a man alive who can convince me that he will put women's autonomy on an equal plane as his own. Sorry guys, y'all have ignored us for too long.

And Republicans think it doesn't matter because they'll win on the economy. The stock market is going to recover like it always does, unemployment is still low. But taking away a woman's right to make medical decisions is becoming law. There are plenty of suburban moms who are married to respectable men and live in nice houses because they aborted that loser guy's fetus in college. And they're pissed your taking that right away from their daughters.

Since that won't happen, every time they show their face in public they need to be asked why.

"Why aren't you celebrating the end of abortion in Arizona? It means thousands of babies will be saved every year, right? Do you hate babies?"

Yes, those celebrations were very helpful in preventing the Republicans from securing a 6-3 majority on the Supreme Court and positioning themselves to un-legalize gay marriage.

If republicans take control of both houses and then the White House in 24, parades of joy like the multiple gay marriage ones will be outlawed and the only parades will be showing republicans celebrating their destruction of this country.

While you are correct, I feel the need to point out that you are the only one in this thread mentioning the midterms. *shrug*

I think most of us are hopeful that this will finally get many women off of their asses and to vote in their own best interests (not republican). I personally called for those responsible for this bullschitt to drown in a cesspool.

As I mentioned in my reply to another, I've been in plenty of threads where I had to close the tab because someone who was pro-choice seemed giddy because of polling after roe overturned. Obviously I don't know if fury was driving it. But it didn't read that way to me.
