Well, India would have done so much better if they had something closer to capitalism than their oligarchs deciding what businesses can or cannot be started in the country.

2022-09-25 1:39:03 AM
The purpose of capitalism, as practiced, is to replace landed-based feudalism with non-tangible asset based feudalism. The further it can stray from the actual value of real world production the better, since land, resources, and labor are limited commodities that cannot fill the empty void that fills the world capitalist class where their humanity once stood.

2022-09-25 2:01:38 AM
It's not capitalism that put food in the mouths of hungry kids and lifted literally millions of children out of poverty in the US during the pandemic, that was government programs, especially the adjusted child tax credit that Manchin and the republicans killed.

It isn't capitalism that keeps millions of older people from being desperately poor in the US, it's social security.

Capitalism is a system that produces wealth, but producing wealth is not the same as ending poverty. Capitalist countries that reduce poverty inevitably have redistribution mechanisms, either "socialist"government programs or strong labor unions.

There are a few million Wygers in China who are working for $0.00.  Yet they have health care, food and shelter in their concentration camps.
Clearly money is their biggest problem.

In the 1990s Best Koreans died en masse (hundreds of thousands), of starvation and government executions.  If only we gave them lots of money.

There are millions of marginalized people in India.  If only TFA knew the root cause of the poverty.  Clearly Bill Gates and Soros invented this income distribution there personally, and this never existed before "capitalism".  People didn't buy or sell things and barter is clearly a more equitable system.

Everything costs the same everywhere and corruption is a myth.  Time to go to the Finland Station comrades!

I couldn't get through TFA, it's like bad Soviet propaganda.

Capitalism is old.
Looks like, at least according to this meme's reasoning, that Communism and socialism are what has ended poverty.
Of course, the reasoning is specious, but that's not my problem.

You're doing it wrong.

Fano: HOO boy, I've got some bad news on how they treated the environment in Eastern Europe, the Soviet Union, and China.

Did they do it for money and power?  They probably did it so they could catch up with us, the kings of capitalism.  The people with ALL the disposable shiat and ALL the stuff.   Don't be stupid.
And how much did western civilizations just farking TAKE from other countries?  Everything we could, right?  "If you want a trade deal, give us your minerals and machine parts."
"But we have to cut down an entire forest to do that, and people live there."
"Do you want this trade deal, or do you want us to drown you with climate change while you sit there in poverty?"

But since it's impossible for  men to think any other way than competing and taking things from others, they invented capitalism, which is supposed to apply some "rules" to raping the planet.  The rules of ones who make money, of course.
So--no rules, and whatever we say is true, is true.  Like that capitalism is the only way to live and prosper.

Don't you work in the medical field? How's everybody doing with all that free and unfettered capitalism?

I have you tagged as "responds with insults", so you're A) on your game and B) not providing any useful content.

The difference I pointed out remains important because of scale.  People have to be worried about killing the living things around them, not 'the planet'.  People don't think like that, they just dismiss it as an abstraction.

So... you're rude, wrong, and pointless.

For the most part, the herculean task of the meek-but-correct bringing the strong-but-wrong to heel needs to happen.  I'm not sure our social instincts provide for that outcome, when the meek form mobs they tend to do so without much intelligence.

Still, for my kids I'm hopeful we'll figure it out before we force ourselves back into the stone age without a way to climb our way back up again.
