That's a strange bit of Orcish propaganda... The Ukrainians are simultaneously destroying you with US-made weapons AND selling them for a profit on the black market?

Wow, they must be SUPER badass. You better not mess with them.

They have to fit something else into their routine during the overnight hours on Fark

D'oh! After so many discussions with Fark's ammosexual brigade I was finally convinced to get my hands on some real firepower to increase my manliness and overall sense of self-worth.

Those Javelins I ordered off that website are never turning up, are they? Sigh, well it's back to relying on sensible, evidence-based gun laws where I live to ensure I don't get killed by some random mass shooter for me.

Ukraine would not sully the holy benediction of St Javelin with such malfeasance.  The only way to earn her blessing is by exploding Orcs.

Given the condition we've seen of their equipment and weapons, their "bio weapons lab" is a cabinet full of fart jars.

It is time to put the Tom Clancy myth of the mighty Russian military to rest. It. Doesn't. Farking. Exist.

They were coasting off of the USSR's work and legend.  On paper they should still have it too, obviously smaller, but still formidable.. But the kleptocracy had become so ingrained into the culture it just slowly degraded while those at the top just assumed everything stayed the same.

It's funny because those at the top assumed correctly. Materiel being fenced by kleptocrats for pennies on the dollar = everything staying the same.

It never did.

But without the Russians constantly Potemkin-ing everything they do, the United States wouldn't have felt it necessary to get ridiculously OP'd. The DoD was spending and training and building and upgrading weapons systems for decades in case of a potential showdown with a formidable enemy who didn't really exist.

Just in case.

Eh, they've always had a kleptocracy but under serfdom and then Leninsm and then Stalinism those at the bottom and middle rungs did dare, there were spies everywhere and people would narc on anyone, innocent people included.  I'm sure there was some, but nothing like it was right before the Berlin wall fell and through today.

The throwing was left for those at the top and those at the bottom knew about it but weren't willing to risk it because it would be them and their families paying for it.

It wasn't until they started to liberalize and cut back on the secret police that those at the bottom started gutting everything.  If those above them did it, why couldn't they?  When their family and family and wouldn't be killed for it why live like absolute shiat when you can live slightly better?

Russia's always been a kleptocracy, but for a long time that thievery was relegated to certain levels of the hierarchy.

Let's just put it this way, between 1991 and 1992 reports of theft skyrocketed.

In 1991 it was like 400 per 100k people and by 1992 it was well over 1,000 per 100k people.

Russia wasn't always this bad and their military wasn't always this degrade from theft and rot.

I'm not saying it was a good place or crime wasn't rampant, it was, but it was reserved for those at the top. They had drilled into their heads that all property was state property and when the state was a brutal regime that'd dissappear entire families over rumors or minor crimes, people just wouldn't do it at the levels we saw after the Berlin wall to today.

I know that there were some times under the monarchy they had a notoriously paper strong military, but during others it wasn't.  During Stalin and Lenin things most definitely weren't as bad as they are today when it comes to the theft and rot that permeates their entire rotten system.

Still too early to breathe easy. Pooty is yet to croak, and Pooh Bear has been looking at Taiwan with greater intensity as of late.

The Russian Army may be a myth, but there's still a chance China could fill that role. And you better believe Pooh is watching his friend sink in Ukraine and is furiously scribbling notes.

To make great, effective propaganda you must understand the truth, the psychology of the people you want to convince, and the effect you are trying to achieve.

So a Russian propagandist right now needs to understand they're the bad guys, doing comically poorly invading Ukraine (as comical as mass murder can be, anyway), and their country is falling apart at the seams under the direction of an inflexible thug, and the majority of the world is aligned against Russia.

It seems to me that kind of person would GTFO rather than get to typing.

I have only read one of his books (The Hunt for Red October) and it pulled no punches in describing how shiatty the Soviet military was, in men and materiel.  Commanding officers who were held back by political officers (kind of a stretch of the truth to say the least), crappy weapons systems in general and amazingly shoddy technology in particular (Jones kept calling the Russian electronics a total kiudge, the inside of the Russian ICBM was all breadboards, discrete components, and loose wiring, etc), the conscript system was roasted by the Soviet officers in comparison to the American system, so on and so forth.

Propaganda doesn't have to be disinformation.  It's mostly used that way anymore, but it's not required.  While it often is slanted, misleading, etc. it's really just information to promote or denigrate a particular cause.  You can release the stone cold truth as propaganda, and people often do as long as it serves the purpose
