durbnpoisn: It was exactly as freaky as you can hear in my running commentary.

That's just a little bit of that space debris that they never tell you about.  It probably blasted off from the rocket launch, and went off on its own.
I'd dignify your post with a better answer, but what difference does it make?  It was some of our space trash, and there's going to be a lot more of it.  This is what everybody wants.

Are you implying that what I saw was not the primary booster but something that cut loose?  And they are just not telling us about that?

Could be.  Because as I said, I have no idea how that was that low this far from launch.

What you are seeing is very high, already outside the bulk of the atmosphere. It only looked low in the sky from your location because it was so far beyond the horizon that the curvature of the earth comes into play.

From here in SoCal I can actually see the entry burn from a Falcon 9 on the horizon on a clear night. Well, I can see the first three or four seconds of the ten second burn, and then it drops below the horizon. First time I saw it I thought it was the landing burn, but no, it's still in space, just very far away.

Your answer is absolute nonsense, but logic is hard for the Elon-haters.

AmbassadorBooze: OhioUGrad: Yay space junk that will last at most 5 years before leaving its orbit, while causing issues for telescopes and the like so some people can get dial-up speed from satellites.

Next time, launch ol' Musky into space.

Much progress, such win.

We should have Biden EO the end of starlink.  Have him EO that all non essential says be deorbited or shot down.  Essential sats would be telescopes and earthscopes.  And US military sats.  Everything else must be eliminated.

If the elites want fast comms have them put fiber everywhere.  Including the places they said they would but then just stole the money through shenanigans.

Problem solved.

What if Starlink is Military. Wasn't there a rumor about how if you wanted to put project MARAUDER in sat form you would need a really large cluster because with current tech you just can't generate enough microwave energy from a single satellite? Or some such nonsense. Or it could be something other than a microwave + plasma doom weapon. Lol
