The weaponry advanced into Ukraine, they just have to go pick it up.

That's a weapon that's guaranteed not to blow up in your face the first time you try to fire it. Better get to work on the inside parts at least, Ivan. The did give you a cleaning kit, right? Little gun oil? Maybe fashion a pull-through?
/Nah, you're fucked, tovarisch.

Any other weapon I'd agree with you, but that AK will probably (not probably enough to talk me into pulling the trigger, mind) work ok.

At any rate, all it really needs to do is hold together long enough to get to the front line and be dropped during the conscript's surrender.

nelsonhaha

Russians don't deserve functional equipment.

Hopefully UKR has been given and trained in lots of anti-personnel weapons to liquidate all these loser orcs.

If you are issued a rifle like that the only sensible thing to do is use it to club your commanding officer in the back of the head and then run.

Lies. I have been reliably informed by AK fanboys that the legendary weapon doesn't degrade under any circumstances.

oh I'm sure those krokodil jabbing losers have way worse things than tetanus to pass along.

Told you. Putin's taken a page from Stalin's playbook.

A rusty AK? Seriously? USSR aligned groups buried AK's in the grease paper from the factory in deserts or damp fields. Many have been accidentally dug up decades later looking like they just were shipped from the factory.

You know what to do lads. First chance you have once outside Russia, surrender to Ukrainian forces.

It's your best chance at surviving Putin's meat grinder.

Sad part is it's an AK - there's also a fair chance it'll fire just fine - for a while

/only one way to find out if you really want to know

I guess the strategy is to have Ukraine kill so many poor Russians that Ukrainian troops become depressed, because I can't see the end game here other than Putin railing about how Ukraine is killing so many folks that he just has to nuke 'em...

No, that location is fine for bracing the gun. Now the whole upper part of the receiver deciding it was tired of firing bullets and wanted to see what the big deal was all about.....

Probably still works. AK types can handle a lot of dirt and corrosion. Hit it with a wire brush and some oil and it's good to go.

I'm thinking about how our conscripts did in Vietnam with absolute air superiority, massive, ultramodern, overwhelming firepower, a vastly superior training regimen and possibly the best and most dedicated NCO personnel up until that point in military history.

Anybody want to buy some used Russian Army rifles?  They've only been dropped once...

2022-09-24 7:37:23 PM
Sorry, I'm not buying.  There's no way a quartermaster handed those out. They look like they were found in a muddy field under some sunflowers.

They should just CGI some of their super weapons to send to Ukraine. The west won't stand a chance after that.

Maybe the fastest way out of Russia is to actually get conscripted, then immediately surrender to Ukraine.

If someone close to Putin would just do the world a favor and off him, this would all be over in short order.

I always thought the value of the AK was less that it never rusted and more that rust didn't matter.

There's a real possibility that that rifle has several firefights in it still.

Adds a real sting to "never fired, only dropped once," doesn't it?
