(Twitter)   On this date in 2012, the Packers got hosed by replacement officials in the egregious "Fail Mary" incident that led to a quick labor resolution between the NFL and the usual referees who would never do that to the Packers   (twitter.com) divider line

I love all the heated arguing in the replies about a 10 year old play. 😂

Somewhere, Lions fans are throwing their keyboards in rage...

The best part about that whole deal: Tate got away with an egregious OPI. When interviewed after the game I'm pretty sure he thanked god and jeebus. However when asked about the push-off "I don't know what you're talking about?"
I'm sure god was super impressed with you being a lying Fark. Good times.

IIRC Ed Hockulee was doing conference calls with other refs during games so they could make their own calls and discuss various plays.  What I would give to hear the five minutes following that farkup.

IT'S FUNNY BECAUSE IT SPAWNED ALL THOSE TERRIBLE QB FACEBOOK SUBMISSIONS!

The worst part is that it affected seeding for the NFC that year. If GB had won, they'd have been a higher seed. Seattle wouldn't even have made the playoffs.

While the next couple years after were good, there was a certain fun to the Trollhawk years.

Meanwhile in CFB today, I saw a guy get an interception who didn't even have his hand on the ball when the receiver caught it and went to the ground.

At least Tate was there when the ball arrived.

With Rodgers playing Brady tomorrow there should be some epic whining from the QBs and fans about the Refs.

And that is when I learned to despise Pete Carroll and his cud chewing face.  He had no empathy or shame for winning a game with such a travesty of a call

and sadly, the officiating isn't much better anymore. NFL games are fixed by the head of officaiting because they are in cahots with draft kings

I loved how ESPN canned the regular Sportscenter that would have followed the game and turned it into a total gripe fest about how stupid this was. The postgame press conferences were interesting for once.
A rare case of actual journalism at work and absolutely riveting live TV.

Cue Norm MacDonald wishing for universal annihilation.
