The announcer had to stop themselves before they advertised a television program that the originating network apparently mocks just before airing.

the shiatty as Snakes had Northern Arizona University and "Mexican Heritage" night about a month ago.  Wife and I are NAU grads, she's really proud of her Mexican heritage, so we went.  Cardinals.  Pujols hiat a first pitch HR, his second AB fouled one or two off, maybe a ball, maybe a missed swing, but, cracked his second.

both HRs it was amazing how the crowd gave him a standing ovation.  wife is like, "why are you clapping?"

"we're seeing a Hall Of Famer, do Hall Of Fame, things!"

Epic win for Albert, epic fail for MLB.  I'd have seen it live if it wasn't on Apple TV.

If all the whining about Apple is
because it's on a streaming service then I get it. That's annoying. But their game presentation is actually really good.

ESPN posted a montage last night of his milestone homers. I didn't remember that his 1st career homer was in what was at the Dbacks at then Bank One Ballpark on 4/4/2001

i gave up after the first game with the nats and they spent 20 minutes discussing the players' knobs and not paying attention to the game at all

I was in the park when Pujols hiat that monster homer off Wagner. The crowd was instantly silent as we watched the Astros world series dreams get crushed.

Best HR% since he was allegedly in his 20's. Seems legit.

Are you thinking of the monster home run he hit off of the Astros' Brad Lidge in the 2005 NLCS? (Was an epic bomb and Lidge was never quite the same player after that.) Because the Astros won that series.

Credit to Lidge he was amazing in 08. I don't think he blew a save. Got seven in the postseason and a ring. But yea other than that season he was erratic.

I'm sorry, sports fans. I know he's been a terrific player and is a no-doubt-about-it, first ballot Hall-of-famer. But in his 22 years ― over two decades ― in the big leagues, I can't even watch him take practice swings without immediately thinking how absolutely hilarious the name Albert is.

Cubs fan. Saw him multiple times at Wrigley. Still hate the fact that Derrek Lee won the Silver Slugger and Gold Glove at 1B in 2005 and yet Pujols won the NL MVP that year on the most irritating team to win a WS in my lifetime. He's #3 on my Sports Nemesis list behind Favre and Rodgers.

I've seen most of the best hitters of the last 25 years in person (save for Trout).  If I had my pick of player at their peak during that stretch I'd want at the plate in a bottom of the 9th playoff game situation, I'd probably put Pujols and Bonds at 1A and 1B.

Just don't ask Bonds to throw out Sod Farking Bream at the plate...

The WS team was 2006. Houston fans should be quick to remind that while Lidge was broken in that series, Houston ended up closing out that series to be swept by the White Sox.

Still, I remember the Lee/Pujols conversations. They were legit for a day or two and then quickly stopped.

Heh, that's what I get for going off memory.

In fairness, that White Sox team ranked a solid second for most irritating WS winner of my lifetime from a roster standpoint. It was a stellar combination of redasses (Buerhle, Konerko), jerks (Pierzynski, Podsednik), and outright lunatics (Everett, Jenks).
