Lets stop selling multi thousand dollar products because of a stupid decal that costs us fifty cents a pop and no one even cares about, nor does it do anything to the vehicles driveability

Badges, badges? Why do they need badges?

No seriously are they required by some law i am not aware of? Is this a ploy to drove up scarcity/ prices?

That is one spectacular supply chain fail if you can build the vehicles, but are missing the finishing touches.

Or are all of the chips in the badge?

Vertical integration has its advantages.  Ford used to own forests and mines--from raw materials to the sales floor.

Badges, badges? Why do they need badges?

A friend had a Plymouth Voyager minivan.  But the nameplate on the glove box was "Dodge Caravan".

Yeah, something isn't adding up. I can't believe they cannot find an alternate way to make the badge. Or just let customers decide if they want to wait to accept their order now without it and offer to install it later.

The Ford version of my car is a Ford Bronco, which:

a) would cost another $20k similarly optioned
b) would blow up its engine if taken off road, or, driven anywhere

Having said that, I'd like a Bronco, were made by Toyota and it wasn't $20k more than my 4Runner.

Can't they just pull badges off all the dead Tauruses in the graveyard? Pick 'em, pull 'em, clean 'em up and call them "vintage".

So guess I'll hit junkyards buy a bunch of Ford badges and sell them to Ford.

They should use one of those trucks that's just sitting there to go pick up the parts they need.

Would an "I Bet the Jews Did This" meme be inappropriate here?

The thing people deliberately remove or black out if they care about it at all? shiat, way to tip your hand. You could charge an extra hundred or so just to sell an "unbranded" trim option.

/And are those things made of Unobtanium? Like hell you can't just make those by the thousands from some quick sheet metal stamping or injection molding process followed by a quick spritz of paint.

Yep, the old Kentucky Speedway - Ford has been using that parking lot since the last race in 2019. Seeing more Ford trucks at another location down on I65 in Shephersville. - I wonder if there are more at that old Redmar Shopping center near Fort Knox...

Something doesn't add up here. Unless there is some regulation that requires vehicles to come with badges, I can't imagine not selling them just because of that.

They mention the badge shortage, but don't explain that the shortage was because the distributor was sanctioned for dumping hexavalent chromium into the environment.

Badges are important. I drive a Dodge Sprinter that is identical to the Mercedes Sprinter and the Freightliner Sprinter of the same year ... except for the badges and the hood.  As far as Oregon is concerned, they are manufactured by Sprinter.  I had to get a new title when some idiot decided to "simplify" registration.

But out amongst the simple folk of the new West, my Dodge gets no flack.

Won't matter for Mustangs...no Blue Ovals on the outside to be seen.

Ok...sorry, it's dot matrixed into the sunshield of the windshield. The only visible one. I forgot about that.

Omnivorous: A friend had a Plymouth Voyager minivan.  But the nameplate on the glove box was "Dodge Caravan".

That just means at some point the glove box door fell off, which is something contractually required to happen in all Dodge/Chrysler products, and someone replaced it with a Dodge one.

Dealership calling customer: "Hey, yeah, your F750 super-duty crew-cab pick-up truck that you put a $50,000 deposit on? It's basically ready, but we can't sell it to you because it doesn't have a Ford nameplate on it. Sorry."

The opening paragraph of that story...it was like reading something from The Onion.
